Role Summary:
The User Experience Leadership Program (UXLP) offers those with a passion for design & user experience an opportunity to grow their design abilities, business acumen, and leadership skills to build a career with unlimited potential. Program members learn by doing--gaining real-world experience through work on important & challenging assignments alongside some of the brightest designers & technical minds in the world.

Essential Responsibilities:
UXLP program graduates will have the technical and business foundation to proactively and continually make innovative contributions to GE’s future. UXLPs receive broad job exposure through rotational assignments, mentoring from experienced designers, personalized coaching, and leadership and technical training. Full-time, 2-year leadership program with targeted assignments, educational opportunity, and classroom seminars tied to GE Digital’s key Design & User Experience initiatives.
Professional Development:
  • 3-4 rotational assignments, providing experience working in cross-functional teams and with GE businesses.
  • Customized individual development plan supported with personal coaching and mentorship.
  • Exposure to GE Senior Leadership & design peers across GE.
  • In-person classroom experience and virtual coursework on design, leadership and business acumen.
In this role you will:
  • Contribute across one or more projects/programs/products as assigned in a cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to further develop and learn user experience capabilities and methodologies.
  • Assist with the effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering.
  • Stay up to date on current and emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends


Qualifications/Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, “STEAM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art + Design, Math) OR Bachelor’s Degree in the above majors with at least 2 years of relevant experience in design.


Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA for the first year; geographic mobility may be required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Can create annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a software application.
  • Understands value and activities associated with getting feedback for design ideas from users and stakeholders; can use feedback to determine how a design should be evolved and refined to better meet user, customer, and business needs.
Business Acumen:
  • Understands key cross-functional concepts that impact the company, business priorities, and organizational dynamics.
  • Understands industry knowledge at a high level.
  • Understands key principles of design thinking, what it is and why it is important. Explores all ideas, regardless of their source.
  • Understands that designing, developing and deploying products and services for infrastructure-level domains requires attention to the complex behavior and relationship within and between systems.
  • Creates artifacts to facilitate shared understanding of business benefit for stakeholders.
Leadership:
  • Distills information down to key points. Expresses the information clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Uses effective listening and questioning techniques that facilitate constructive discussion and collaboration, and to arrive at solutions.
  • Articulates opinions and presents clear rationale for decisions. Speaks of mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses data or factual evidence to influence.
  • Works together with individuals and teams from other disciplines toward mutually beneficial design decisions.
