Role Summary: The Tax Counsel, Planning and Business Development, will report to the Global Head of Tax of GE Aviation and be responsible for all tax aspects of acquisition and disposition planning at GE Aviation. He/she also will support the business’ global competitiveness by working to minimize its global tax cost while fully complying with the tax laws of all relevant jurisdictions.
Essential Responsibilities: • Providing guidance to deal teams on tax aspects of pending transactions, structuring and funding of deals • Ensuring flawless execution, controllership and risk management of acquisition and disposition transactions by reviewing deal models, partnering with GE Corporate tax resources and local country tax resources, hiring and managing outside tax advisors and reviewing transaction documents • Monitoring ongoing business operations to ensure that all technical requirements for transactions are satisfied • Being a resource to the GE Aviation tax team on international tax planning matters for the business • Coordinating and leading GE tax driven initiatives for the GE Aviation segment.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university • Juris Doctorate, Masters of Taxation or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification • Minimum 10 years of tax experience in major law firm, accounting firm or multinational company • Significant experience advising on mergers and acquisition transactions • Expert knowledge of technical tax rules governing outbound investments, subpart F and US foreign tax credits
