Role Summary: The Machinist will assist in the manufacturing of Dresser Masoneilan and Consolidated products for distribution to customers to perform routine machining operations using the principles of Just-in-Time and Total Quality Control.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Machinist you will:
Be responsible for quality of all operations performed, use of statistical process control charts, and continuous improvement in quality
Qualify machine, fixture, tooling, preset tools and offsets
Inspect first piece and in-process pieces, as specified in work instructions
Make adjustments as needed to hold tolerances
Maintain workplace organization for good housekeeping and cleanliness, to promote safety, and to improve work practices for fast setup
Perform routine machine operations, normal machine adjustments such as speed, feeds and cutting tools, fast setup, and routine preventative maintenance to equipment
Set up and operation of machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations holding precise tolerances and finish requirements
Mount, align and secure holding fixtures or locate, support and secure work piece in absence of fixture, as required
Program machine using IGF programming, understand programming language, proof programs, make edits and adjust offsets
Manually cycle machine, bore jaws, check tooling, fixtures, work alignment, clearances, stops, etc. to meet program and blueprint specifications
Be aware of problems and correct the cause of the problem
Efficiently operate Mills, Lathes, Drills and other machinery as assigned
Perform all deburr / cleaning operations, and related duties as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Minimum 3 years of production environment experience including 1 year of machine shop experience
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
Ability and willingness to work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
Technical / Vocational certification in Machining Operations, preferred
Technical training or apprenticeship program in Basic Machining skills
Minimum 1 year of machine shop experience strongly preferred
Working knowledge of mathematics, read engineering prints and process sheets, perform routine machining operations and have a good mechanical aptitude
Ability to read / write basic English production and safety instructions
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Exposed to some noise, dust, and liquids usually present within production environment
Occasional periods of mental concentration working with a computer monitor, keyboard and mouse
Requires use of safety glasses, safety shoes and / or ear plugs
High energy, detail oriented
Ability to read and interpret documents such as master schedule, safety rules, operating instructions, drawings / prints and procedure manuals
