Role Summary: Our new Chief Data Scientist will be a key thought leader in driving all levels of strategy, vision and execution to deliver on the mission of world-class Data Science for Brilliant Manufacturing within GE Digital. You will influence and provide expertise by establishing the strategic roadmap and engagement model for data science and analytics utilizing business and industry knowledge.
As our Chief Data Scientist, you will be a spokesperson and advocate on relevant data science issues to both internal and external audiences and stakeholders. You will collaborate with a world-class team made up of the full spectrum of the data science function (data scientists, structured and unstructured analytic researchers, data management, and data engineers) across the company to develop and lead the strategy while working in a fast-paced, challenging, and data driven environment.
As the Data Science leader for Brilliant Manufacturing, you will guide and lead teams addressing statistical, machine learning and data understanding problems in a commercial technology and consultancy development environment.
As our new Chief Data Scientist, you will:
Build and lead the data science and analytics team for Brilliant Manufacturing in GE Digital
Partner closely with Engineering and Product Management to build analytics into our products.
Act as a key thought leader in defining big data roadmap, business intelligence and data strategy; leveraging data assets in support of strategy.
Drive ownership, management and delivery of solutions to business clients and establish a robust vision for growing a Data Science team.
Spearhead the relationship development and technology evaluation for new prospective partnerships.
Drive evangelization and education of Data Science services by communicating the vision and value of advanced analytics.
Analyze and solve complex business problems by leveraging industry knowledge and expertise and being a proactive thinker offering recommendations in data science to drive change and deliver results.
Proactively champion the value of data as a strategic business asset and revenue generator by selling ideas and being able to transform those ideas into action.
Promote the use of new technology and industry leading trends as a creative thinker.
Establish a level of trust and credibility by building and maintaining relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
Advocate decision-making and get “buy in” while building partnerships with clients and across the organization by fostering collaboration.
Create and Implement data strategies, standards, procedures and accountability policies.
Be a creative problem solver and generate ideas that will benefit the company; recognize opportunities within the market and quickly mobilize to take advantage of those opportunities by creating, articulating and executing against the strategic plan.
Skillfully guide and influence through change management and communicate directions clearly.
Year One Success
Define the data science organizational structure and strategy
Build a team of exceptional data science professionals, establish metrics and KPIs for the organization
Connect how data science meets with Predix; define what data science means for Brilliant Manufacturing at GE Digital from a product and platform perspective
Evangelize data science both internally and externally; build credibility as a subject thought leader
Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research or related STEM major.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in technology, business management and/or consulting roles.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role with proven experience building and leading a data science organization or practice. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a B2B environment, with manufacturing/industrial/supply chain knowledge ideal.

Significant experience evangelizing the value of data analytics and ability to effectively communicate the value to various audiences.
Analytics development for industrial applications in a commercial/industrial/manufacturing setting.
Significant machine learning and research experience,
An advanced degree/Ph.D.
Possesses a combination of business knowledge, technical skills, people skills, and the ability to guide a data strategy.
Demonstrated and externally recognized expertise in data science technology and industry trends
Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, verification, and validation of descriptive, applied, predictive, and prescriptive analytics for industrial applications
Comfortable and experienced in thought leadership programs. public speaking and interfacing at the C-level.
Trusted advisor to leaders gained by listening, understanding and offering solutions to their core business needs in order to create insightful analytics.
A passionate communicator and proven thought leader in the business application of analytics with the ability to understand and explain complex problems in a simple and easy to understand manner.
