Role Summary: The Advanced Manufacturing Technician performs diverse and complex assignments in support of GEHC product development and manufacturing. Assignments may include, but are not limited to: fabrication and assembly of fixtures and equipment, set up and running of data acquisition equipment for tests, carrying out experiments, reporting/documenting results of tests and measures, lead compliance and quality activities and train other team members.
Essential Responsibilities: • Perform work from detailed instructions and maintains daily production output with accurate records of the work performed and other records as may be required by management. Collaborates with others while keeping the supervisor informed. • As required, with limited guidance, provide data for formal reports (oral and written) of the work. Also prepare and submit, with limited guidance, appropriate disclosure letters of patentable ideas when a contribution has been made and evaluated by the supervisor. • Normally performs routine tasks with some decision making and judgment with limited guidance. Displays some ingenuity in applying or modifying already established techniques with proper compliance. Must be flexible and adaptable in applying knowledge gained through education or experience. • Complies with all EHS, Training, and Quality procedures and policies. May participate as element team member or owner • Under limited supervision, performs routine experiments. Adjust variables as directed, take specified data making a variety of specified measurements and manipulations with skill. • From limited instructions, set up or modify equipment, calibrate, perform maintenance and operate equipment (mainly routine tests & manufacturing operations). • Under limited supervision, performs routine troubleshooting. Use judgment to determine proper troubleshooting steps or improvement to current processes. Bring equipment irregularities to the attention of the supervisor. • Use Lean & Six Sigma tools to improve established processes and metrics in daily work and completes DMAIC Green Belt. Participates in Action Workouts • Make acquired skills or knowledge available to others; train others on manufacturing processes • With limited guidance, authors new OMS works instructions, Out of Control Action Plan, Changes Notices and Routes documentation in MyWorkshop.
Qualifications/Requirements: Required Qualifications: • Associates degree in Applied Sciences (or local equivalent 2 year degree) and 2 or more years technical experience, OR a High School diploma (or local equivalent) and 4 or more years technical experience • Demonstrated ability to work well with limited direction and information • Proficiency to understand and interpret basic written technical information • Demonstrated proficiency to utilize computerized work systems • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Ability to communicate using English
