Role Summary: The PWR Fuel Lead System Engineer for GNF-A will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams to achieve the successful licensing, fabrication and implementation of PWR fuel assemblies in US commercial reactors. The PWR fuel Lead Systems Engineer will support the growth of GNF-A into PWR markets and will oversee all technical activities and coordinate technical exchanges between customers and internal / external stakeholders, including international members.
Essential Responsibilities: As the PWR Fuel Lead Systems Engineer, you will:
Oversee the technical aspects of multiple concurrent projects aimed at analyzing, fabricating, licensing and implementing PWR fuel designs for application in various utility operated cores
Lead multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to achieve successful PWR fuel implementation programs including the development of engineering infrastructure, fabrication requirements and licensing processes for PWR fuel products and PWR engineering services to support the PWR product line
Work with PWR Fuel commercial and project leadership to execute project communication to major stakeholders: customers, regulators, senior management and international consortium members
Provide technical direction on all aspects of PWR fuel and product line development projects, technical direction relative to strategy for the supply chain of both fuel assembly hardware and engineering basis and services
Ensure proper and efficient spending of approved funding and adherence to schedule
Support the interface with various regulatory agencies (NRC, DOE, etc.) as appropriate
Identify technology development needs related to fuel performance, feedback lessons learned to the design organizations, and provide leadership to close technology gaps
Effectively interface with support organizations, including fuel manufacturing, licensing and sourcing to collectively meet the goals and objectives of GNF
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Physics
Minimum of 10 years of experience in PWR fuel design, PWR core design and/or plant systems engineering / licensing / operations
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons ( U.S. Citizens, Lawful permanent residents and protected individuals ( e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Technical competency in PWR plant systems, water chemistry effects & management practices, fuel assembly design criteria, fuel cycle design limits and required analyses, fuel performance concerns and mitigation practices, fuel and associated plant licensing criteria, plant transient and accident design scenarios and analysis bases
PWR commercial plant operations experience, including (but not limited to): Senior Reactor Operator Certification or License, Station Nuclear Engineer, plant systems engineering leader, core design, or similar
Large project technical leadership experience preferably in multi-disciplinary international projects
Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies
Ability to lead and facilitate design reviews/challenges and effectively/systematically address risks and open issues
Strong facilitation, team building, communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of fuel shipping and handling practices
Knowledge of fuel storage practices and requirements
Technical experience that includes direct liaison with customers and partnering organizations
