Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced senior level Systems Engineer with Functional Safety knowledge to work, within the Controls Subsea Production Systems, Oil & Gas Business. The candidate would be expected to engage in all aspects of the equipment portfolio and to have a proven track record in full system architecture from conceptual design through to complete system delivery and commissioning

Essential Responsibilities:

Technically responsible for the overall Design, Scope of Requirements and Specifications for new products, projects and system designs. This role encompasses full life cycle ownership.

Initial primary project will be the complete System ownership and delivery across product lines for the HIPPs NPI program.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Working within allocated Project Teams, to deliver and drive through the required System Engineering Scopes
  • Analysis of Functional Safety requirements and creation of designs capable of exceeding IEC 61508
  • Creation and ownership of System Engineering Design File
  • System FMEA / HAZOP focal point
  • System Interface Engineering Input
  • Define and capture requirements though DOORS
  • Creation of Work Packages for Specialist Tasks and component designs
  • Lead / Participation in Design Reviews
  • Technical Liaison across SPS, Customers & the Supply Base, to ensure a cohesive system design solution
  • Problem Solving / Root Cause Failure Investigation and Technical reporting
  • Operational Support during the Build, Test and in-life phases
  • Technical representative at Client meetings
  • Actively participate in professional societies, independent organizations to ensure product line interests are represented in the development of standards and specifications
  • Act as a change agent in the business with energy, passion & enthusiasm to support business activities and alignment of processes to GE Oil & Gas
  • Encourage EHS standards within the team and continuously strive to improve EHS procedures and culture
  • Take responsibility for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of process effectiveness and efficiency within the team
  • Generate and maintain engineering documentation through Design and verification to meet new and existing project requirements


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering field or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Subsea Controls Industry experience
  • Solid experience in equipment and system design, including latest industry practices and standards
  • An engineering background or equivalent and will be familiar with Company codes of practice and relevant national and international standards
  • A passion for learning new technology, techniques, methods and principles
  • Experience of technically leading and Mentoring other System Engineers
  • Understanding of Functional Safety, ideally a TUV qualified Functional Safety engineer
  • Ability to define and document systems solutions within specified performance and environmental constraints
  • Ability to articulate controls and instrumentation system designs covering hydro-mechanical, electronic, electrical and software aspects
  • Driving engagement across product companies to ensure system solutions are aligned
  • Ability to re-use and adapt existing solutions wherever possible
  • Ability to define new component products when necessary
  • Be prepared to meet and work with clients, when required, and able to clearly explain design approaches
  • Able to accommodate International Travel when necessary
