Role Summary:
GE Healthcare is looking for an experienced SQL Server Development DBA to work on several exciting projects that will have a positive impact on GE healthcare’s business.

Essential Responsibilities:

As a SQL Server Development DBA, some of the primary responsibilities of this role include developing database solutions, ensuring that new database code meets team standards for readability, reliability, and performance. The development DBA role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned. The ability to work on multiple application development projects serving in a hands capacity. The ability to work in an agile team environment is critical.

In this role you will:

  • Write complex stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and T-SQL
  • Develop high performing, scaling and innovative data transformation packages and ETL jobs
  • Collaborate with system engineers, frontend developers and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
  • Tune T-SQL queries. Conduct performance tuning query optimization reviews for projects
  • Perform production database administration tasks such as backups, restores and maintenance routines
  • Build features such as web services and Queries on existing tables
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience working on T-SQL/SQL Server experience working on T-SQL/SQL Server
  • At least 5 years’ experience administering SQL Server databases in development and/or production environments

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Barrington, IL

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Agile/Scrum experience preferred.
  • Write high quality code using test-driven development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices
  • Experience with tools like sonar for handling static code violations in the code.

    Technical Expertise:

  • Experience working with Visual Studio Database Projects desired
  • Experience working in cloud environment such as Azure
  • Knowledge of both Azure SQL Database as well as IAAS SQL Servers are desired
  • Experience with tools like perforce and GitHub for source code configuration
  • Understanding of Simulation algorithms and statistical modelling is desired

  • Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application
  • Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks
  • Has the ability to make basic technology choices based on experience
  • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry
