Role Summary: Perform engineering support associated with the aerospace manufacturing process. In this role, you will enable manufacturing uptime, cost reduction, and increased product quality by working with process engineers and machinists. Your contributions will range from CNC setup, tooling maintenance/repair and manufacturing process troubleshooting.
This is a 3rd shift position.
Shop Support Responsibilities: - Perform tooling preventative maintenance (cleaning, rebuild), related process setup and product validation (Vision, CMM, & etc.) - Day-to-day shop support and basic troubleshooting on manufacturing processes - Contribute to daily tech support meeting - Propose/develop/implement tooling improvements - Propose/develop/implement CNC programming improvements - Identify and generate drafting requests for tooling modifications with process/product owners - Utilize tool room processes and resources for tooling modifications - Work with site process owners on projects and process setups/changes - Support site process owners on GE spec requirements - Contribute to site technical team staff meetings when available
Tool Room Responsibilities: - Provide off shift tool room capabilities for shop break/fix needs - Perform tooling modifications/builds, as requested
Standard Work and Best Practice Facilitation Responsibilities: - Identify and Implement standard work and best practices across shop - Train team members on best practices
Qualifications/Requirements: - High school diploma - 2 or more years of experience with CNC equipment such as grind, lathes, milling equipment, etc. or a graduate of any recognized machinist or toolmaker course - Qualified candidates must be able to work from layouts and dimensions on drawings and read manual gauges - Candidate must be able to read blueprints and have proficient knowledge of machining methods and cutting tools - Must successfully complete a mechanical skills assessment - Must be able to work in a high-performance work team environment - Computer literacy for Statistical Process Control, CMM measuring, and CNC controls is required - Experience in tool and die processes - Demonstrated understanding of technical issues in a manufacturing environment - Able to identify and offer solutions for troubleshooting - Self-starter, show initiative - Excellent communication skills - Prioritization, time management and multi-tasking skills - Ability to work overtime for shop technical support and tool room responsibilities, as requested
- Familiarity with Unigraphics - Proficiency with MS office products - Experience with electrical discharge and laser machining - CNC Machine Technology Certification
To ensure this position is successful, overtime in this role will not include production responsibilities.
