Role Summary: As a Development Manager of a software engineering group, you will apply your knowledge of management, software development methodologies, best practices and proven processes to deliver a quality software product on budget, with in planned schedule with superb quality.
Essential Responsibilities: As a Software Development Manager of Software Engineering you will be responsible to lead and manage your development teams to ensure successful software program execution including:
Perform the role of “Service Owner” for BMS suite resiliency, stability, and monitoring
Build a world class software development team
Deliver and ensure production availability of the services
Work closely with Product Management team to drive the prioritization and execution of the backlog
Ensure high quality software is delivered by measuring and providing guidance
Work closely with Agile leader to ensure organizational transformation to extreme Programming
Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software and user experience engineers
Work with product owners and customers to understand market needs & vision; quickly translate that vision into demonstrable software
Quickly define and deliver working software prototypes
Work with product owners and architects to develop software technology plans and roadmaps
Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
Manage the tracking project data and KPIs
Deliver resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities
Plan and manage budgets related to scope of team
Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership.
Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results.
Build a world class software development team to consistently deliver complex software platforms and research projects of varying size and duration
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in the software domain OR Master’s degree with 10 years of experience in the software domain.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills

Must be willing to travel (roughly 15% of the time)
Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA
Demonstrated success in leading a team of 10 or more engineers to design, build, and operate high volume software systems and services
Deep Understanding of scalable distributed systems, software architecture, data structure and algorithms
Proven track records of building large enterprise software with high availability and resiliency
Working experience with Platform as Service (PaaS) and Cloud based infrastructure
Experience in Agile/SCRUM enterprise scale software development
Managed a world class engineering team that delivered a minimum of 5 major releases for production products / services
Experience working with multiple stakeholders including product, quality, operations, sales, and internal and external customers to deliver products and solutions
Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems
Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
Prioritizes projects and communicates business objectives to the team
Evangelizes new technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends. Acts as industry expert by participating in defining standards and
