Role Summary:
This role will lead the Materials team to define material flow and work with operations leaders to drive systematic and physical process change in how we manage material flow in a Lean Manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will drive for continuous inventory turn improvement and implement best practices to assure targets are achieved. The candidate exhibits outstanding leadership and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization including
senior leadership.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Drive a zero tolerance environment for safety infractions. Promote proactive behavior.
• Exhibit outstanding leadership skills, and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization including senior leadership.
• Ensure that the materials and production planning, buying and inventory control functions are supporting the needs of sales, product development, customer service and production in a cost effective and efficient manner.
• Plan, organize, direct and support, monitor and control the staff and functions related to materials planning, buying and inventory control.
• Continuously review and monitor departmental performance to ensure corporate objectives are being met.
• Manage the supply chain, including materials and consumables suppliers and the logistics service providers to ensure supplier performance.
• Identify any performance deficiencies and problems or opportunities for improvement in these areas of responsibility, and take initiative to solve the problems and realize the opportunities.
• Identify specific cost reduction opportunities and take action to achieve cost reductions, or improve cost effectiveness, including introducing alternative sources where appropriate.
• Work effectively in co-operation with the Production Manager to develop and maintain efficient planning and operations in production, warehousing and materials handling.
• Drive for continuous inventory turn improvement and implement best practice models to assure targets are achieved
• Team leadership, including performance management, objective setting and motivation

Qualifications/Requirements:
•10+ years material management experience in a manufacturing setting
•Strong Logistics, Supply chain management and Material Management skills.
•Exposure to JIT, Kanban, MRP and lean manufacturing
•Demonstrated experience leading cross functional teams
•Demonstrated ability setting and meeting aggressive targets and goals
•Self-motivated, high energy individual with passion for excellence and the ability to energize others
•Results oriented and capable of leading projects; forward thinking & proactive
•Flexible and adaptable: Open to change and modification of tasks.
•Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills
•Operational finance knowledge
•Proven ability to drive change in a matrix environment
•Ability to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change
•Hands-on experience using / implementing an ERP Oracle 11i
