You will be joining the Software Platform User Experience team within GE Healthcare Digital. The team guides and supports the GE Health Cloud program, which is reinventing the way collaboration and analytics is done in healthcare, as well as driving UX success for GE Healthcare overall as a center of excellence, ensuring that the businesses and product programs have the tools and training they need to enable valuable experiences for our users. Role Summary: We are looking for a very senior user researcher to join our Seattle office. You will have a deep understanding of user research methods and best practices along with a nimble, creative and pragmatic approach. You will design, conduct, and advise others on research activities that will drive design direction and product capabilities creating value for our customers, while also achieving the utmost safety and efficacy for users.
In this role, you will:
Frame, scope, and lead execution of user research projects
Lead constructive research & design critiques
Provide leadership, research guidance and mentor ship to team members; provide coaching on feedback gathering techniques.
Select and use the most effective user research methods to address design opportunities.
Propose design or product solutions based on research and synthesis outcomes; influence change
Plan and facilitate interview sessions with users, customers, stakeholders, and executives.
Research and evaluate emerging design, technology, and industry trends; champion new ideas as appropriate.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Factors, User Experience, or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) AND 10 years of work experience in design research or user experience; OR equivalent experience.

User research conducted within healthcare regulatory frameworks such as Meaningful Use, 510K filings, EPCS, and others
Previous impact on corporate intellectual property, inventions, or patents a plus
Interaction or visual design experience a plus
Leads and oversees and recommends both short- and long-term research activities, creating a research plan
Leads and oversees and conducts qualitative and quantitative research activities such as ethnographic studies and usability studies
Leads and oversees the creation and communication of research artifacts, findings, reports, and recommendations to stakeholders
Leads planning of research topics and usability tests and contributes to the analysis and synthesis of research findings
Leads management of usage analytics and Voice of the Customer solutions, mining usage data, and communicating findings to stakeholders
High attention to detail; extremely strong written and verbal communication skills
Deep knowledge of research tools such as Morae Observer, Camtasia, Axure, InVision, and Omniture
Creates, analyzes and manages projects that provide direct business benefit. Demonstrates detailed knowledge of business operations and strategic direction, including merger & acquisition opportunities.
Sees patterns within industry issues. Demonstrates how UX provides solutions for internal/external customer challenges.
Takes various stakeholders through the design thinking process to frame a project.
Works to create an understanding of how individual people and things fit within larger structures (like systems or organizations), as well as the relationships between parts of a system and the system as a whole.
Uses root cause analysis to identify, correct and/or eliminate the causes of problems as well as the problem itself.

Proposes UX and design concepts to leaders. Creates meaningful stories and communications that drive behavior.
Uses active listening techniques to diffuse tense collaboration and decision-making situations in teams.

Identifies opportunities for necessary changes and actively pursues/leads appropriate changes.
