Role Summary:
The Global Process Safety Manager will identify process safety risks, issues and develop mitigation strategies for GE Water and Distributed Power. You will support both the CMS and ES P&Ls.



Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:


  • Implement, maintain, and improve all aspects of the company's process safety program. Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, EU and country/state/local requirements including Process Safety Management, RMP, Seveso. Update the program as necessary to ensure compliance and best management practices
  • Implement company’s internal standards for hazardous process (e.g. flammable materials and combustible dust handling)
  • Maintain company policies adhering to local, state, and federal EHS regulations
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Provide technical process safety support during commissioning and startup of production processes
  • Assemble process safety information, including P&IDs, equipment design data, and process parameters needed for successful completion of Process Hazard Analyses (PHA/HAZOP)
  • Be an expert at determining the necessary risk mitigation for an accident scenario during PHAs/HAZOPs or as a stand-alone task
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as hazardous condition monitoring, management of change, safety critical items
  • Recommend process safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical and physical hazards, and conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, and temperature levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations and perform or direct environmental monitoring as required by permits or GE


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of industry experience.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%


Desired Characteristics:
  • Master Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in industry, consulting, or with a regulatory agency
  • Knowledge of EH&S issues including applicable regulations
  • US OSHA Process Safety Management, US EPA and SEVESO experience
  • Experience in conducting employee EHS training
  • Compliance Auditing skills
  • Experience in reading engineering diagrams and analytical lab results
  • Experience leading multiple levels of an organization through practical EHS solutions
  • LEAN or Six Sigma experience
  • Knowledge and experience using the GE Gensuite EHS tool
  • Proven results of developing and improving EHS performance and cost savings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
