Role Summary:
The Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) is a training program, an ideal entry point for engineers with the energy and drive to define and deliver world-class manufacturing processes, products and services. Possible assignments include shop operations, process engineering, lean manufacturing, global supply chain management, materials management and environmental health and safety implementation.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) is a GE Corporate entry-level rotational program providing real world and classroom training to promising early career operations leaders.

  • Two-year program that allows members to build leadership and functional skills through challenging rotational assignments and world-class training.
  • 3 rotations, each lasting 8 months, up to 1 relocation while on program.
  • Location – GEHC sites throughout EMEA, typically starts at home country site.

OMLP members have the opportunity to experience the entire supply chain, state of-the-art methods of manufacturing/operations, and sourcing practices through structured course work and practical application. Coursework includes: Project Management, Negotiation Skills, Finance Essentials, Environmental Health and Safety, Supply Chain Management and LEAN Manufacturing Operations. Members are also certified in Six Sigma. GE's focus on process integration, from design through manufacturing to sales, has been critical to meeting our customers' expectations.

OMLP is designed to successfully integrate manufacturing with other key processes in GE. Possible job rotations may include:

  • Leading a manufacturing team in the production of products
  • Improving efficiency of supply chain management through LEAN/cost reduction;
  • Supervising suppliers to hone product quality and negotiate price.

This combined experience positions OMLP members for accelerated career growth.

Program start date – July 3, 2017


  • Bsc/Msc in Engineering - Industrial Engineering/ Mechanics/Electronics
  • Outstanding academic achievements, up to some years of experience in relative industry
  • Excellent communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent presentation skills
  • Strong commitment to career in operations management
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Fluency in both English and Finnish
  • EU work permit

Successful candidates are required to go through 3 rotational assignments in different business areas within GE Healthcare sites locally (2 rotations) and in one other European country for one rotation.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Major in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in manufacturing
  • Knowledge of LEAN
  • Demonstrating analytic approach to problem solving
  • Geographic flexibility and global mindset
  • Able to coordinate many tasks concurrently
