Role Summary: The Fuel Systems Engineer will report to the Fuel Systems Leader of the Engine Technology Centre of Excellence as a member of a multi-disciplined team split between Bangalore, Erie PA and Grove City PA. They will work with adjacent assigned engineers from Performance and Emissions and Engine Controls teams to implement platform focused technology plans across multiple engine platforms in our locomotive, power generation and marine segments.
Essential Responsibilities: The Fuel Systems Engineer will be co-opted to investigate field service issues and conduct experiments to develop knowledge, learning and practical application of findings relating to Unit Injection and Common Rail Fuel systems – from pumps, controls logic, injectors and control elements.
In addition, you will:
Be the team ‘go-to’ for fuel systems expertise and adjudication of critical resource allocation and support.
Highlight and perform experiments with new technologies and methods to shape the NTI deck (3 yrs+) in conjunction with Advanced Engineering for Fuel Systems relevant content.
Work with aftermarket Product Managers / channels to develop NPI ‘upsell’ pipeline relating to Fuel Systems.
Own projects identified in the Technology Insertion Plan for the relevant engine product lines and the NPI/NTI deck for fuel systems related activities.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college,
6+ years working with reciprocating engine technologies.
5+ years working with fuel systems
Experience with emissions legislation and its applicability to IC diesel technology, dual fuel & L2NG.
Knowledge of in-house / externally sourced OEM fuels systems: High Pressure Pumping, rail design, injector control schemes; injector technologies – unit injection and common rail.
Appreciation of ageing / usage related effects to determine pump, injector, controls strategies shifts necessary to maintain emissions compliance.
Experience in cost reduction activities and leadership of cost reduction programs.
Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills.
Horizontal working, influencing across P&L and functional boundaries to achieve the optimum answer for GE Transportation and its customers.
Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with other GE businesses.
Strong program management abilities in a matrix environment.
Effective communication & presentation skills.
Masters level degree with Technical / Product / MBA bias.
