Role Summary: This position has full responsibility and accountability to develop and lead the compliance program for GE Energy Connections in the Latin America region. It will build on the solid platform of GE’s existing compliance policies, processes and culture, together with those of Alstom, tailor them to the unique needs of this new business, implement them in a timely, effective and efficient manner, and continuously monitor the effectiveness of the program.
Essential Responsibilities: • Own and manage Energy Connections Compliance program in Latin America, including the creation of a strong compliance culture across the entire business; • Support risk assessment process, summarize and help developing abatement plans; • Ensure that company and business policies and processes are being proactively monitored, reviewed and assessed for existing or potential compliance violations and concerns; • Ensure all open issues across EC in Latin America are investigated and closed quickly and appropriate actions taken; • Further develop the open reporting environment through training and communications as appropriate; • Develop and deliver comprehensive compliance training relating to all areas of risk; • Partner with EC CCO and EC Latin America General Counsel and leadership team to ensure strong Compliance Culture across the regional organization; • Drive and facilitate Compliance ownership by business leaders through quarterly Compliance Review Board meetings and other regular rhythms; • Gather and analyze regional compliance-related data and construct strategic responses; • Own and manage internal investigations within the region, conduct high-priority internal investigations; • Work with RE Ombuds Leader to track concerns in the region and ensure timely and thorough completion; • Assist in the development of Compliance training & communications agenda and confirm effective delivery, including conducting regular targeted live training sessions; • Ensure ownership and timely completion of Compliance-related corrective actions; • Coordinate remediation and integration action items associated with joint ventures
Qualifications/Requirements: • Law degree from accredited Brazilian law school; • Minimum of five (5) years related work experience in areas such as Legal, Compliance, Audit, Quality, or Risk Management; • Knowledge and/or experience with a corporate compliance policy, integrity investigations and audit functions; • Experience in dealing with compliance issues, such as: remote site risks, controllership, FCPA, anti-money laundering and dealing with the government. Strong process skills and organizational skills; • Experience conducting privileged investigations; • Excellent facilitation, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Desired Characteristics: • Must speak/write fluent Portuguese and English, and have at least working knowledge of Spanish; • Strong organizational and project management skills; • Record of dedicated and successful teamwork, excellent interpersonal and diplomatic abilities, • High-energy, self-motivated, confident leader willing to take on responsibilities across geographic and business boundaries; • Experience working and living in the Latin America region; • Excellent independent judgment; • Ability to work in a boundaryless environment and perform constantly and effectively under pressure when required; • Strength in developing strategies and selling and implementing solutions
