Role Summary: The Associate Scientist position distinguishes itself by contributing to research collaboration with high emphasis on custom/new product innovations. The Associate scientist is expected to design, execute and analyze cell culture based experiments and data with minimal supervision. In addition, this position works in close partnership with the GE Healthcare Technologies team, research sites, and clinical partners to develop new product applications and other activities.
Essential Responsibilities: Duties include (but are not limited to): • Combining knowledge of chemistry/biochemistry/biology/statistics to deliver new products • Evaluating and extending new concepts as well as providing innovations which can be developed into new product advantages • Using broad expertise in chemistry/biochemistry/biology to help resolve urgent issues with current products
Specifics: 1. The cell culture Associate Scientist will work in a bioprocessing laboratory focused on the development and improvement of cell culture media and supplements for biopharmaceutical manufacturing and bioprocessing applications 2. Lead portions of development projects as assigned. This includes design, execution and data management and analysis of cell culture based experiments 3. Responsibilities may also include training others and troubleshooting experiments and equipment 4. Minimal (<5%) travel may be required 5. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position 6. Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible
Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field 2. Relevant work experience should meet the following threshold levels. 2+ for BS or completion of MS/PhD.
