The Project Manager will lead large-scale customer facing projects for the Latin America region. Projects will consist in providing the full solution package from Engineering to Commissioning and Operation of Substation Projects.
•The Project Manager will oversee the work of internal engineering resources as well as manage project scope for external partners and subcontractors.
•The project manager is responsible for controlling project scope, cost, schedule and risk, as well as ensuring quality and customer satisfaction for all assigned programs and projects.
•Assume overall responsibility for project leadership and strategy including planning and directing resources and activities to ensure compliance to scope, schedule, cost and quality.
•Direct and manage external partners and/or subcontractors to deliver to customer specifications and schedule.
•Key interface to the customer; responsible for customer satisfaction and project success.
•Manage and control project budgets, tracking costs and estimate to complete; report-out to business on project status and risk management.
•Coordinate resolution of issues using change management tools/procedures and ensure timely collection of customer invoices.
•Engage as required in pre-contract proposals to estimate project costs and execution strategy.
•Ensure safety procedures on site and strict adherence to quality standards.
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) from an accredited university or college. (desired)
•Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
•Project management or project engineering experience in the power systems, particularly transmission equipment and projects, automation and control systems. Optional, experience in Series Compensation and Synchronous Condenser.
•Previous responsibility for projects or programs involving multiple businesses and/or functions across the entire project cycle - development and design through design, test, installation, and commissioning.
•Ability to manage external, customer-facing projects to successful completion.
•Experience working with global teams and partners.
•Ability to successfully interface with executive level management within both the sponsor and customer organizations.
•Strong decision-making skills.
•Strong oral and written communications skills.
•Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
•Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously.
•PMI certification; familiarity with modern project management techniques & software systems, including global resource planning systems and Primavera project management software
•Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities.
•Familiarity with contractual terms and experience managing customer-facing contracts.
•Six Sigma training (GE employees only).
•Multi-lingual (ability to conduct business in Spanish and English if required).
