Role Summary:
Works closely with the Product team in turning high level product definitions into detailed product offerings by identifying and mapping market wide domain requirements to technology components. Leads, consults or oversees multiple architectural engagements primarily with customers and partners. Works on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge within a domain: technical, solutions, business or information. Leads domain specific architecture.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Principal Product Architect, you will:

  • Work closely with partners to build strong relationships which can lead to joint Oil and Gas Digital product offerings.
  • Establish a deep understanding of our customers’ needs and work with partners to articulate value propositions based PREDIX/APM and O&G APM product roadmap.
  • Work closely with “White glove customer” engagement teams to ensure consistency with over all Oil and Gas Digital architecture and roadmap.
  • Develop Business Architecture and Product Architecture to support enterprise level sales.
  • Work with partners to create end-to-end products that go beyond base line capabilities
  • Help Pre-Sales and Business Development teams to build sales channels by being the technical lead and demoing our capabilities to entice.
  • Be the champion of the GE Digital and GE Oil and Gas Digital vision and help sell that vision to customers and partners
  • Design, Validate and Present software products, including advanced product concepts, future direction and industry solutions to customers and partners
  • Develop and deliver high quality, standardized or customized presentations and demonstrations that highlight product capabilities
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios.
  • Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain.
  • Keep abreast with the latest technologies in IIOT area and research small and large competitors in the Oil and GAS digital industry

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 15 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel (roughly 10% of the time)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA.

    Technical Expertise:

  • Proven experience in leading cloud-based design/implementation. Demonstrates experience leading projects in security, messaging, micro-services, Multi-tenancy etc.
  • Has architected & designed high data volume applications.
  • Passionate about new technologies both open source & commercial & has proven experience building highly scalable applications/tech stack using them.
  • H&s on experience in building large scale systems using Java, C, C++, REST.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Cloud & Big data technologies such as HDFS, Spark, Storm & Kafka SQL/NO-SQL, Elastic Search etc.
  • Deep domain IT expertise & technical expertise in modern technologies, particularly cloud-based infrastructure
  • Leading edge user experience & visualization capability
  • Significant expertise in developing & selling SW/HW products, covering a wide variety of software models from subscription to perpetual. Including creating & executing propositions & a track record of success
  • Deep understanding of the technology stack to include OS, DB, middleware, application layer, virtualization & cloud technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including creativity & curiosity with ability to effectively communicate & influence product direction to both technical & non-technical audiences alike across all organizational levels
  • Technical acumen to interface with technologists on the customer side, understand complex concepts & translate in a way that biz/industry understands
  • Demonstrated problem solving/creative skills, ability to exercise sound judgment & make decisions based on market/customer trends
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, strategic agility, manage diversity & drive for results
  • Deep Knowledge in Predix & APM, Meridium, SmartSignal, System1, ServiceMax, AWS, Azure

    Business Acumen:

  • Create, analyze & manage projects that provide direct business benefit; demonstrate detailed knowledge of business operations & strategic direction, including merger & acquisition opportunities; understand industry trends & competitive landscape & the implications for your GE business; partner with business leaders to align projects with business goals & needs.
  • Adjusts information (e.g. level of complexity) & story to align with audience. Clearly articulates the value of what is most important to the customer & how GE solutions &/or services can meet the customer’s outcomes; Produces functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation & storytelling concepts.
  • Domain & domain specific technology expertise in Oil & Gas, preferably in one or more of the key O&G segments such as Upstream, Downstream, Midstream & LNG
  • Familiarity &/or experience with Predictive Maintenance, Asset Integrity, Inspections & related digital capabilities.

    Leadership:

  • Recommends allocation of budget to meet architectural initiatives critical to business/mission success. Develops the business case for approval.
  • Provides leadership, technology guidance & mentors others throughout their domain. Define the skills, competencies in the skills & talents for architecture team members.
  • Facilitates dialogues that produce new perspectives & trigger recommendations for substantial innovative / enhancements, & analysis of consequences.
  • Influences through others. Uses experts or other third parties to influence. Builds direct & "behind the scenes" support for ideas, uses chains of indirect influence.
