Role Summary: Mechanical Lead Engineer will demonstrate direction and guidance to the team to meet assigned objectives related with aero-mechanical starter products on a variety of engines in Aeronautical, O&G, marine and power generation industries. In this role, you will execute engineering analysis, identifying and resolving issues related with components, assemblies or systems to accomplish with all requirements.
Essential Responsibilities: The Mechanical Lead Engineer provides direction and assistance to work group with minimal guidance from Senior or Advanced Engineers in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work with costumer requirements to make decisions, apply concepts to complex issues and resolve them through immediate action or short-term planning with minimal coaching.
• Be responsible for creating and developing design concepts, using criteria and engineering efforts for product development, analysis, integration and testing with minimal guidance from Advanced Lead members. • Participate as responsible of product specifications. Support, establish and coordinate design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product development, analysis, integration and testing. • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments. • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements. • Apply solid engineering skills to the solution of assigned projects and demonstrate ability to support and handle technical challenges in related analysis. • Document technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures. • Knowledge of technical guidance and support to new engineers. • Provide timely communication regarding issues or developments. • Participate as a presenter in technical program reviews • Solve problems according the scope and complexity • Self-discipline and self-check of work. • Propose innovative analysis design, processes and systems participating on invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business • Understanding and defining input from the various engineering disciplines. • Mechanical Design, analysis and testing of high speed rotatory machines including casting, shafts, bearings, sealing, rotors, blades, clutches, lubrication systems among others.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Mechatronic Engineering with 6+ year of experience. • Or Master in Science Mechanical or Mechatronic with +3 of experience • Or PhD in Science with +1 years of experience in related field.
Desired Characteristics: • Effective oral and written English communication skills • High Technical proficiency using engineering FEA tools (e.g., Ansys, Hyperworks, Unigraphics NX 7.5) • Knowledge of high speed rotating systems and components such as power transmission machines, pneumatic turbine elements, shafts, bearings, blades, clutches and lubrication elements. • Solid understanding of structural (Linear and non-linear), vibration and dynamic analysis principles to define constraints and load cases to be analysed by others. Ability to assess FEA results. • A understanding of Six Sigma DFSS tools to make data based recommendations and decisions • Ability to successfully work in a team environment • Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems
