Role Summary: The Service Technician will be skilled and understand the purpose and principles of operating pressure relief and/or control valves. In this role, you will be responsible for installation, connection, servicing, testing, adjustment, repair, maintenance, removal, trouble shooting, inspection and replacement of safety, relief valves and control valves.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Services Technician you will:
Perform repairs, services, maintenance and assembly operations while maintaining safety and quality as a top priority in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment
Demonstrate sound judgment with the ability to make decisions and corrections when problems are identified / detected when servicing safety, safety relief and/or control valves in the field
Ensure all products repaired / assembled meet the quality standards in accordance with procedures, engineering specifications, drawings, and work instructions
Perform functional tests as required
Collect data and documents and prepares detailed reports for customer review, billing records and expense reporting
Assume responsibility and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
Adhere to all policies and procedures
Practice safe work habits to ensure an injury free environment
Use physical force to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools
Climb and work at various heights, sometimes working in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position
Routinely react to visual, aural, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Be on the job and available to work overtime, at times for extended periods of time based on seasonal customer demands
Perform any job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
High school diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Minimum 2 years of experience in safety, safety relief and/or control valve maintenance
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed to support customer requirements and seasonal business volume, as required
Ability and willingness to work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
To the extent that you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a GE owned / leased or rented vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record
Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a TWIC and DOT Driver’s license
Willing and able to lift and work with Personal Protective Equipment, including Emergency Breathing Apparatus
Minimum 3 years in safety, safety relief and/or control valves, preferred
Associates Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PSV Data, Capacity charts and assembly and test instructions
Experience working with measurement devices and test gauges
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience working in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment
Experience working in a gas gathering system operation, preferred

Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks within a fast paced environment
Ability to read and interpret documents such as master schedule, safety rules, operating instructions, drawings/prints and procedure manuals
Ability to prepare detailed reports and correspondence that are clear and intelligible
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, customers and other employees
Sound judgment with the ability to make decisions and corrections when problems are detected
Ability to work independently and/or in team assignments
Strong safety record and knowledge of safety rules and practices
Strong history of dependability and reliability
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
