Role Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated individual, passionate about technology to join the GE Oil & Gas Digital team as Staff Data Scientist - Simulations. As the Staff Data Scientist, GE Oil & Gas Digital, this role will focus on developing impactful and innovative analytics products for the O&G industry.
Essential Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for designing analytics for products and solutions, leverage strong engineering expertise to develop new analytics for driving growth in asset, application & industry coverage and lead engagements with external/internal customers. The candidate is also expected to mentor other engineers in analytics and simulation methods.
As Sr Staff Data Scientist - Simulations, you will:
Lead analytics framework development, working closely with analytics researchers, data scientists, mechanical, electrical, petroleum and chemical engineers
Work with Product Managers and technical staff in customer engagements to understand user needs and define requirements for the analytics development and productization
Develop technical specifications, implementation plan and productization plan for developing and validating analytics involving large scale engineering and system level simulations
Work with analytics development, product strategy & product management teams to develop new analytics products and features.
Build connections with engineering teams in the GE businesses, Universities, National Labs and Industry associations.
Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams for evangelizing industrial analytics products.
Serve as a thought leader externally and internally, providing guidance on best practices, industry trends, and future potential for industrial analytics.
Be able to influence from both a strategic and technical standpoint across the function and business. Ability to influence at the peer and senior leadership level is critical.
Ph.D. in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with industrial/research work experience of 10 years or more

Must be willing to travel (roughly 10% of the time)

Experience working with large scale engineering and system level models
In-depth experience working with one or more engineering/chemical tools (e.g. Ansys, Fluent, CFX, HYSYS, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to simplify complex physical processes to their underlying first-principles to scale modeling of complex systems
Deliver new, commercially re-usable simulations based analytics to drive growth in asset, application and industry coverage
Engage key technical & subject matter experts across the business for knowledge capture into the solution.
Champion technical solution across the Oil & Gas industry and guide product lines with creation of analytic solutions for their individual product lines. • Experience coding in one or more languages (e.g. Python, Matlab, C, C++, R, Java, etc.)
Experience incorporating engineering analytics or advanced data-driven analytics into software solutions
Strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
Detail oriented and demonstrated ability to develop technical requirements based upon proactive analysis of customer needs
Demonstrated ability to work in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments
