Role Summary: As a Sr Manager—Digital Operations—DevOps of a software engineering group, you will apply your knowledge of management, software development methodologies, best practices and proven processes to develop and deliver all aspects of a continuous integration and deployment pipeline and support, across multiple product lines, the release of quality software products, on budget, with in planned schedule with superb quality.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will:
Build a world class DevOps team to enable the continuous delivery of complex software platforms and research projects of varying size and duration
Build Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment software tools that will support, enhance and grow Industrial Internet Application team’s CI and CD capabilities with fail back capabilities
Demonstrate very strong technical leadership and people management skills including solid communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of product development and successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation and resolution
Influence decision making through active partnership with cross-functional teams
Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software and build/release engineers
Work with service owners across the businesses to understand needs & vision; quickly translate that vision into demonstrable prototypes
Work directly with internal customers to understand business and technical needs
Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
Drive world-class quality in the production deployments to ensure minimal downtime
Plan and manage budgets related to scope of team
Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in Build and Release/DevOps OR Master’s degree with 10 years of experience in Build and Release/DevOps OR PhD with 6 years of experience in Build and Release/DevOps

Desired Characteristics: Technical Expertise:
Significant experience with: Linux/ Unix Operating systems & one or more scripting languages (e.g. bash, perl, python); working with Jenkins (including plugins) or other build automation tools; one or more of the following: GIT, GitHub, SVN; automation & scripting using Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Bash, CFEngine, etc on Linux/*nix
Experience with one or more of the following: Artifactory, Nexus, or other artifact storage tool • Experience with Maven &/or other build tools
Proven track record of deployment and delivery to production using CI/CD with fail back design
Applied experience with modern application technologies & design patterns including Cloud infrastructure, distributed computing, horizontal scaling, & database technologies
Embraces technology trends that drive intelligent automation
Proven success working with & optimizing large scale production application deployments.
Able to verbalize what is behind decisions & downstream implications.
Continuously reflecting on success & failures to improve performance & decision-making.
Understands when change is needed.
Participates in technical strategy planning
