Role Summary: As a member of this world class team, the Lead Project Engineer will lead and execute all engineering aspects of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) projects. Essential Responsibilities: As the Lead Project Engineer, you will:
Be responsible for leading and coordinating all technical aspects of power equipment projects
Be responsible for the single line diagrams, plan and elevation drawings, relay protection and control requirements, and layouts for conduit and wiring, grounding, and control buildings which may be developed with other project team members.
Write equipment specifications, issue material purchase request forms, and evaluate vendor quotations against specifications
Act as single point of contact for technical issues for the Customer and Project Manager
Direct efforts of engineers and designers and coordinate with sourcing and project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives
Interface with internal and external team members
Lead efforts for development of proposals including writing and / or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, direct design and development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Define processes, procedures, performing RCA’s (Root Cause Analysis), perform corrective actions, and validate process control
Support quality initiatives including aspects of ISO9001
Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering
Minimum of three years of experience in Medium Voltage industrial or High Voltage utility power generation / transmission / delivery projects as well as experience with successful engineering execution on large projects valued at >$1MM
Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% as required, which may include remote locations and international travel, and be willing to comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies
Must be willing to work out of a GE office in Saratoga Springs, New York or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Master degree in Eleictrical Engineering (power systems)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in medium voltage industrial or high voltage utility power generation / transmission / delivery projects
Power Transmission and Distribution design and implementation experience
Field testing and commissioning experience
Drives / exciter experience
Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a team environment.
Creative, able to lead a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high
Quality product on time and under budget
Professional Engineering registration (within the U.S.)
Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes, and
Ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided
Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability
Good presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as Project Management
Excellent personal computer skills, including software development, and familiarity with
AutoCAD / Microstation strongly desired
