Role Summary:
The Engineering Leader will have broad responsibility for understanding the current and future business needs of the GEBeyond business and will work closely with the product managers to establish a vision and roadmap for the GE Beyond technologies. The successful candidate will also play a significant role in participating in regulatory efforts in the innovation space. This candidate will be proficient in leading small and large teams, integrating technologies and complying with regulations.

The Engineering Leader will be a key part of the GEBeyond leadership team and will need a combination of business focus and demonstrated technical leadership acumen. Additionally, the candidate will be a recognized expert as pertaining to the art and science of defining and leading a team in building and maintaining authoritative registries.

In this role, you will:
The Engineering Leader will be a key member of the GEBeyond leadership team and will:
  • Work with the GEBeyond technical and business team to design, resource and establish the engineering organization needed to create the autonomous flight traffic management system.
  • Develop regulatory approach for development in an environment where regulations are still evolving.
  • Interact with multiple GE business units, regulators, industry leaders, and GEBeyond team members
  • Merge knowledge of telecom industry technologies and business models with Aviation industry technology and business models to create, novel aviation solutions.
  • Develop innovative approaches to solve analytics problems and communicate results and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with leadership team to scope and define resources required to provide novel technology solutions in emerging markets.


Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years in telecom registry design with a track record of progressive responsibility growth.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Must be willing to travel.


Desired Characteristics:
  • Demonstrated expertise with both traditional technology systems, as well as emerging technologies to support
  • Experience leading a research and development organization focused around database, network infrastructure, telecommunications and registries.
  • Experience in both large and small companies; must combine the entrepreneurial focus demanded in small company environments with the ability to navigate and get things done in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Extremely hands-on; able to get things accomplished without directly managing a team; effective at working with consultants and other “borrowed” resources.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills with specific experience making presentations to boards, investors, internal teams and external audiences.
  • Executive Experience in telecom industry is highly desirable
  • “Hands-on,” collaborative and resourceful leader who will be comfortable navigating a large organization with broadly dispersed resources.
  • Inclusive, open minded leader.
  • Able to build rapport at all levels within Newco and GE and externally; able to work successfully in a large, highly-matrixed organization.
  • Self-directed, creative, driven, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Able to quickly assimilate knowledge about new industry sectors and technologies.
  • Capable of analyzing, interpreting, drawing conclusions and implementing solutions on a variety of complex issues.
