  • Reporting to System Engineering Manager
  • Line and functional reporting lines, Line: Head of Engineering Department
4 Overall target of the position
  • Execution of Engineering activities for the respective Engineering discipline
  • Provides on-time correct and complete Engineering deliverables
  • Quality of Engineering deliverables (i.e. compliance with codes & requirements)
  • Technical clarifications with client, vendor and authorized inspectors
  • The respective Engineering disciplines are:
  • Structural Steel
  • Ductwork
5 Job Assignments, Measurements & Sphere of Influence
5.1 Tasks & Responsibilities (max. 5)
  • Responsibilities
  • Providing a technically mature, economic and competitive Engineering which has to:
  • meet the contractually agreed design specifications of the customer
  • meet all statutory and/or contractually agreed stipulations, technical directives, codes
  • consider the experience from any plants under construction or in operation
  • allow a rational manufacturing and construction
  • Tasks
  • Static Calculation with STAAD, 3D and 2D Analysis (Sructural Steel)
  • Static Calculation for plate works with STAAD or R-FEM (Ducts)
  • Engineering execution standards, e.g. for Arrangement Reviews/Freezes or Design
  • Review/Freezes and according to Division of Work and Definition of Engineering.
  • manage and check of outsourced work packages
5.2 Key Performance Indicators
One evidence of good performance related to each single task and responsibility mentioned above
  • Quality of engineering deliverables as per contractual requirements
  • Adherence to engineering hours budget
  • On time performance of engineering deliverables
  • Completeness of documentation
5.3 Autonomy
  • Area(s) where the position holder is the decision maker:
He has the authority:
  • Authority for the respective Engineering discipline to define the technical design taking into account all relevant interfaces
  • Authority for the respective Engineering discipline to verify completeness of the engineering deliverables and to initiate corrective actions where required prior to forwarding these deliverables
  • Authority for the respective Engineering discipline to verify contract and schedule adherence and progress of the engineering and to request corrective actions where required.
  • Authority for the respective Engineering discipline to request all necessary input from Project Management, Supply Chain Management and Field Operations and all other internal and external interfaces within his processes.
  • Area(s) where the position holder provides recommendations:
  • Process improvements due to experience and development of techniques
  • Corrective actions in case of unforeseen circumstances, delay or clients requests
  • Capacity plan for internal and external engineering activities

7 Functional Know-How
Technical qualifications, competencies & knowledge needed to fulfil the position
7.1 Education & Trainings
Mandatory (MUST):
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical/Civil Engineering
Desirable (NICE TO HAVE):
  • Working experience with TEKLA
  • Working experience with STAAD
  • Working experience with R-FEM
  • Working experience with PDMS
7.2 Professional Experience
Experience gained on the job during professional life
Mandatory (MUST):
  • At least 5 years professional experience in the respective area of Engineering
  • Experience with different Codes (EN, AISC, GB)
Desirable (NICE TO HAVE):
  • More than 3 years experience within utility or industrial boilers
7.3 Language Skills
Mandatory (MUST):
  • English
8 Operational & Leadership Know-How
Observable behavior & attitude needed to achieve the expected results
  • Skills:
  • Training in and several years of experience with design of mechanical equipment as used in
  • thermal power plants.
  • Experience with engineering planning and control
  • Knowledge of the business processes and tools applied
  • Knowledge of document management, scheduling and quality management / quality control
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Ability:
  • Ability to work in an complex environment with functional and hierarchical reporting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good planning, organizing and priority setting skills
  • Ability to take the initiative to identify risk and opportunities and drive mitigation programs
