Role Summary: The Technical Writer authors, reviews and releases content for medical device labeling, installation, operation, maintenance and servicing as part of a global project team. The role requires detailed knowledge of the associated medical devices, project task definition, ability to determine the most appropriate tools and methods for content development, estimation of the development effort required and scheduling of deliverables to meet the project deadlines while meeting GEHC standards.
Essential Responsibilities: • Research, collect source data, and interview appropriate personnel to plan and define the project tasks. • Accurately estimate project effort and cost, clearly communicate schedule and risks. • Develop user, service and collateral content using the appropriate authoring tools and content management system to meet the project requirements, methodology (e.g., Agile methodology) and timelines • Develop graphics, illustrations and images needed to enhance clarity, accuracy and usability for use by a diverse, multi-national customer base. • Track and fix content defects • Actively participate in peer and project reviews.
Qualifications/Requirements: 1. Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (English, Communications, Journalism) and at least 4 years experience in technical writing, or, Bachelor’s Degree in non-related field with 6 years of experience in technical writing 2. Familiarity with conventions in form, structure, and notation of technical writing 3. Proficiency in Framemaker, XML authoring tools, content management systems, Microsoft Office applications 4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional and global project team 5. Strong, demonstrated oral and written communication skills 6. Demonstrated project planning ability and task organization

Desired Characteristics: 1. Experience in technical writing for medical devices, including medical device operation and support. 2. Proficient with DITA 3. Proficient with Adobe software suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop) 4. Working knowledge of ISO, FDA and other applicable medical device regulatory standards 5. Familiarity with GEHC products 6. Demonstrated success working as part of a global technical project team
