Lead Engineer –Controls & Instrumentation for the Clean Combustion (CC), Kolkata must demonstrate technical leadership in developing Electrical, instrumentation and controls specifications and design documents for Electrostatic Precipitators and Fabric Filter applications as well as other as well as other CC specific technologies CC products like for International and Domestic projects.
Lead Engineer –Controls will be responsible for following:
Perform design and develop documents like P&ID in COMOS/Aveva and 3D Cable tray layouts in PDMS, Control Logic Diagrams, Electrical & Controls Overview Diagram, Shutdown Keys, Loop Diagrams, Instrument Indices, Set-point Lists, PLC Design, Instrument Location and Installation Design.
Perform Instruments & control valve specifications and BOQ, orifice plate calculations, Cable sizing, Instrument piping calculations
Perform Cable sizing for Electrical & Instruments, Design for electrical drives TR sets, TR panels and MCC, BOQ for electrical, instrument and controls, Instrument piping calculations etc.
Develop control system architecture for PLC and HMI systems and select appropriate hardware. Develop panel layouts
Develop the P&ID’s in COMOS/Aveva and 3D Cable tray layouts in PDMS. Attend P&ID review and HAZOP meetings with internal teams and customers
Interface with suppliers for preliminary costing, instrument component selection, and submittal document review
Interface with customers regarding Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation designs and submitted design documents
Participate HAZOP meetings with internal teams and customers.
Understand and assess customer problems and determine appropriate means of solution
Mentor other engineers within the team to develop their technical and commercial expertise
Support plant commissioning and performance testing.
Document lesson learned from issues during commissioning and provide feedback to Engineering team and PM
Proactively follow-up & do the input management to track and trace documents and material through the document management team, expediting team and MTA system.
Participate in design review and design freeze meeting and ensure the corrective actions defined by the design review are closed on time.
Ensure a coordinated approach in all areas with the other engineering activities / disciplines.
Support to tender team as per requirement.
Support to standardization/cost out efforts.
Ensure continual productivity improvement through parametrization of tools in PDMS/COMOS and automation of drawing generation.
Implement global standards and common processes to assure consistent quality is delivered.
Communicate project status, schedules, upcoming deliverable, and technical solutions between various teams. Method of communications to include, but not limited to, model reviews, design review, construct ability & accessibility reviews, team meetings, line of balance…etc.
Concurrently work on multiple projects and ensure program cost, quality and schedule requirements are met
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics or Electrical & Instrumentation or Instrumentation & Control Engineering with excellent academic track record
Minimum of 8 years of Instrumentation design and controls of Power Plants/Oil & Gas/ Petro- Chemical Plants
Ability to travel 20% of the time, as required
Hands on and working knowledge of AVEVA, PDMS, AutoCAD, COMOS, PLC
Passion for technology and automation
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to interface effectively with global counterparts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Master's degree from an accredited university or college
Proven experience working in multi-functional engineering teams focused on basic design definition and/or detailed engineering activities for power, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or similar type project execution efforts.
Knowledge & working experience on Air Quality Control Systems like ESP, Fabric Filters, Flue Gas Desulphurization
Working knowledge of software programming/tool development using latest programing languages.
Ability to balance multiple priorities and execute multiple projects at a time.
Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (GE Employees Only)
