Role Summary:
As the Director, Technical Product Management – Digital Inspections, you will be responsible for creating strong working relationships with & influencing product management and technical product management colleagues, engineering and other functional groups to ensure GE continues its leadership position in the digital inspections marketspace.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will play a critical role in defining the product roadmap, shaping detailed technical product requirements and designs, establishing priorities, rationalizing technologies, & collaborating with business
stakeholders across the organization while driving product innovation.

You will be recognized as a domain expert capable of credibly engaging customers, engineering, marketing, sales and other stakeholders, and you will provide guidance and oversight to other Product Managers and Technical Product Managers.

You will engage from users to mid- and high-level managers and technical leaders from prospects and customers to present roadmaps, feature overviews/demos, and solution designs, as well as elicit requirements and validate assumptions to ensure we build highly relevant, impactful applications.

As a Director of Technical Product Management, you will:

  • Identify market opportunities, understand market trends, define/manage requirements, participate in the refinement of product management processes, and be a domain/business expert for the digital inspection product portfolio
  • Lead the definition and maintenance of the requirements backlog, feature designs, and roadmap for the digital inspections portfolio
  • Define/manage requirements and contribute to raising the quality of the product management processes and discipline in the organization
  • Demonstrate exceptional ability to achieve results amidst changing priorities and technical obstacles to ensure that engineering sprints produce high-quality, high-priority features
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, sales, internal and external customers, analysts, and senior management teams to formulate and execute the strategy
  • Establish and manage relationship across GE businesses & sub-businesses, partners and customers at management and technical expert levels across industries and geographies
  • Rationalize competing interests to ensure the inspections team builds the optimal platform solution for GE, not for a single operating unit
  • Establish strong working relationship with account managers, technical sales and user/developer community
  • Contribute to the creation of business & technical sales collateral (such as value proposition, solution positioning content for sales, RoI analysis, competitive analysis, data sheet, product overview, FAQ, recorded demo, webinar)
  • Make recommendations on tools and processes required to aggressively drive our products forward relative to both new and existing products and services through enhancements, research, pricing, voice of the customer, analysis, and reporting

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A Minimum of 5 years of functional and/or technical experience relevant to the domain
  • A minimum of 7 years of product management experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of software industry experience with proven track record
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Must be willing to travel (25%)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA

  • Possesses a deep understanding of requirements pertinent to the industrial inspections marketplace
  • Leverages competitive information, market data, and opportunity cost to drive areas of portfolio focus (Product & Services)
  • Aligns goals, feature sets, capabilities to business objectives for the product (i.e. Profitability, ROI, Market Penetration, OEM [inbound/outbound], Brand Development, etc.) Identifies Buy vs Build vs Partner opportunities and presents what-if scenarios

  • Possesses exceptional skill in crafting user-centered, scalable functional architectures that are capable of evolving without significant refactoring

  • Evaluates products & processes to assure compliance. Measures the impact of trends (cyclical or a shift) and takes action relative to product value position and overall strategy
  • Is capable of interacting at all levels of the organization, with other GE businesses, and with prospects and customers to lead them to optimal outcomes
