Role Summary:
The Controller provides technical and operational controllership leadership and guidance to both Finance and operations leaders for GE HC India. The role involves providing strategic and Operational controllership leadership for the South Asia region in the joint venture. The incumbent leads a team of Assistant Controllers and Accountants.

Essential Responsibilities:
Ensure Controllership & Compliance of all Finance Activities & Documentation within Local Statutory, GE Corporate & Business practices, policies & requirements, and that such records are maintained in timely, accurate and complete fashion
•Ensure quarterly revenue recognition compliance as per GE and, US GAAP and Indian GAAP.
•Drive consistent and effective policies and procedures during monthly/quarterly close process including account reconciliations, account reconciliation audits, GE Corporate Data Request (DR) submissions, and representation letters and adjusting entries.
•Lead evaluation and implementation of local accounting and statutory changes.
•Ensure appropriate Internal Controls in place, in line with local statutory laws and GAPs, GE GAP, US GAAP, and critically examine potential issues where financial risks & opportunities may be drawn out.
•Monitor & Drive GE and GEHC corporate initiatives, simplification projects and integration projects. Provide leadership on these projects.
•Ensure that the balance sheet account reconciliations are completed within corporate guidelines
•Research and advise on complex technical accounting issues
•Support commercial and operations leaders/teams to understand financial/accounting implications of transactions and other matters by providing GE expertise and technical accounting guidance.
•Reports finance status and key metrics to the CFO, Business or Global Controller
•Drive annual pre-close, quarterly CFO risk reviews and monthly controllership reviews with key Operations and financial management personnel.
•Partner with GE Corporate Audit Staff and Finance Managers for internal GE compliance reviews. Drive closure of open audit issues and proactively work to prevent future issues / manage risk. Lead resulting corrective action process implementation and follow up throughout the organization.
•Perform financial analysis of balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance, integrity of account balances/financial reporting and effectiveness of business processes.
•Drive functional integrity and consistency through all Business Processes and systems, including appropriate controls and effective operations via compliance with local statutory laws and local GAPs, GE GAP, US GAAP
•Plan and budget the resources necessary to complete all activities on-time and in accordance with authoritative guidance.
•Drive business growth through simplification processes with P&L and Functional Finance Leaders
•Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational and transactional processes impacting the financial statements, including closing, reporting and analysis

Qualifications/Requirements:
1.Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or other business related field and 8-10 years progressive accounting or finance experience; OR high school diploma / GED and 12 years accounting or finance experience
2.Demonstrated proficiency in U.S. GAAP, local GAAP and authoritative accounting literature (i.e. FASB pronouncements)

Desired Characteristics:
1.CPA / CA or GE Corporate Audit Staff
2.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner
3.Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change
4.Experience leading in a global business environment; minimum of two years experience leading team members
5.Sound understanding of global process and transactional flows
6.Clear thinking/problem solving: successfully led projects/process improvements within operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas
7.Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
8.Confidence/Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions
9.Experience working in a matrixed environment
9.Good understanding of local laws including Companies Act, Tax & VAT Laws
