Role Summary:
GE Steam Power Systems (SPS) are poised for growth. We are currently looking for a Project Director to manage and coordinate large and/or complex power plant projects through all phases of design, procurement and construction. Your are primarily responsible for project operations and programs support including standardization, quality management, document management, methods creation and maintenance, process improvement and tools for the project management function.

Essential Responsibilities:
Reporting to and working closely with the Executive - Executive - Project Management, Steam Power System, this role will be instrumental in developing and executing a robust process during the various phases of bids and / or tenders from risk mitigations to improving market share, margins, customer responsiveness and satisfaction regionally.


In addition to this you will also manage and lead the project team to achieve and drive improvement across cost, schedule, quality and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) targets. You will draw on your excellent communication skills to develop, influence and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders when defining, negotiating and recommending solutions that mitigate risks and strengthen contractual terms.
•Manage the allocated project to achieve the project goals and objectives,
•Initiate and execute gate reviews as appropriate,
•Define most effective claim strategies towards clients, partners, subcontractors, vendors,
•Perform negotiations with clients, partners and/or subcontractors/vendors,
•Prepare and perform Project Reviews as requested,
•Will work with cross functional teams made up on Project office as well as other GE Business
Units
•Capture return of experience and best practices,
•Provide input to project people performance reviews to functions
•Ensure that proper resources are allocated within the project team or hire extra resources to fill
the gaps

Qualifications/Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you would possess:


* A Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business or related field from a locally or internationally recognized university
• 10 years of experience in the Power industry with at least 5 years of experience in one of the following activities: engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project management of large/complex projects

•Good commercial knowledge for assessing business risks and opportunities to undertake
commercial negotiations,
•Ability to collaborate with other business team members in developing strategies and
implementing business plans
•Broad technical and commercial knowledge covering multiple disciplines,
•Strong planning, organizing and priority setting skills,

•Strong in building relationships with clients, suppliers and contractors
•Excellent knowledge of planning control principles
•Good negotiation skills
