Role Summary:
The UX Staff Design Technologist owns and drives complex interactive prototypes to express interactive design ideas based upon user and stakeholder input and feedback. Articulates the pros/cons of specific technology with regards to user experience of a given product/service. Uses modern workflows and tooling to craft software. Demonstrates in-depth understanding of the implications of common languages (WPF, HTML, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#, Objective-C) for user interface construction.

Essential Responsibilities:

As a Staff UX Design Technologist, you will:

  • Help drive the development of clean, efficient, consistent, user interface designs for our software platform from concept through software implementation
  • Review user requirements specifications, personas, prototypes, and design specifications
  • Lead product prototyping, research, architecture development, and interaction design across the product family for efficient and consistent user interfaces
  • Be knowledgeable in detailed and practical best practices in modular user experience design
  • Work closely with agile development teams to ensure that UI components and workflows are designed, implemented, and tested successfully
  • Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes designers, project managers, product managers, and hardware and software engineers
  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, and advocate designs
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and Scrum teams to help them understand and execute an approach to evaluating and prioritizing their product portfolio

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Software Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Systems Engineering, or other Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Microsoft WPF / XAML technology stack
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Microsoft .NET programming languages
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in UX/UI software interaction design
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in software architecture

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
  • Knowledge and experience with designing and delivering technical products and services using the Scrum Framework
  • Outstanding training, presentation and facilitation skills, including using visual aids and public speaking
  • Experience with creating and facilitating workshops or events to educate technical and non-technical audiences
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Must be willing to travel 10%
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Minden, Nevada

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience with advanced XAML concepts like: Advanced Databinding, Template Selectors, Custom Control Templates, Application Theming, MVVM architecture
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Microsoft C# programming language
  • Experience working on geographically and culturally diverse teams in a matrix environment
  • Proven track record of designing simple, clean and elegant User Interfaces for complex applications; an awesome portfolio or example of previous work desired as part of the application
  • Experience leading software development teams through an agile development process
  • Strong understanding of usability and accessibility
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and teamwork skills
  • Experience designing for an industrial environment
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Passion for current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas to senior leaders
  • Ability to influence others without direct authority
  • Ability to form productive relationships quickly and create the spheres of influence required for transformational changes
