Role Summary:
Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for the ProductionCell. Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some mid-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Shop Planner you will:

  • Drive manufacturing cell level scheduling and to meet the needs of business
  • Coordinate material input timing to ensure on time delivery and output schedules to maximize productivity
  • Interface with material planners, production control, quality, production cell supervisor and team, sourcing, engineering, warehouse, and logistics on a continuous basis
  • Coordinate and execute capacity constrained scheduling activities for assigned part numbers
  • Ensure work order, router and work package available for cell
  • Accept handover of sub-assembly from material planner in a timely manner
  • Coordinate material flow on a pull system from warehouse and take ownership and accountability for cell, ensuring material is delivered to the right place at the right time
  • Coordinate input on material shortages and delivery of material for cell
  • Identify and react to material plans that do not meet cell requirements
  • Monitor and coordinate the implementation of corrective action plans to regain the planned schedule, suggest resource modifications and improvements to deliver on time, assess scope of work remaining to accurately predict commit dates
  • Coordinate the efforts of cross-functional groups and across shifts to resolve bottlenecks, material shortages, machine maintenance, manpower and resource issues
  • Ensure on time delivery of sub-assembly to next cell
  • Act as cell’s main representative in regular cross-functional production meetings to ensure medium & short-term fulfillment to the master schedule is met
  • Coordinate the return of excess or unused material to the warehouse
  • Publish and communicate cell KPIs and maintain visual management throughout cell

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution (OR Minimum 6 years of experience in supply chain, operations, planning, engineering, computing or projects capacity and utilizing planning systems, in lieu of education)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in supply chain, operations, planning, engineering, computing or projects capacity including 1 year of experience in utilizing planning systems

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to handle business sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
  • Ability and willingness to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
  • Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
  • Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Business and data analytics experience
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Great communicator, both oral and written
  • Able to achieve the task under pressure, to tight deadlines and working independently
  • APICS Certification
  • Material management, scheduling, planning, inventory, supply chain experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Oracle ERP experience
  • Cyberplan experience
  • Ability and experience to solve complex problems
  • Able to plan ahead, forecast, contingency plan and perform root cause analysis
  • Track record in data driven process improvement
  • Strong influencing skills within a matrixed organization
  • Experience in change management, risk management and project management
