Role Summary: The Data Engineering Specialist will be responsible for Renewables' contractual customer reporting. You will support automation efforts, publish customer reports and troubleshoot issues arising from analysis of data generated by GE’s global fleet of wind turbines.
Use reporting methods and tools that will support improvement of key metrics (i.e. availability, down time, fault rates, production, etc.)
Develop SQL queries against a Greenplum (Postgresql) data warehouse and MySQL database
Streamline and automate processes and reports, including improvements to proprietary message handling logic, monthly and weekly customer reporting, and efficiency metrics
Provide engineering and services support teams with actionable data and analysis to enable quick response and effective technical troubleshooting
Produce customer reports
Perform weekly performance calculations and distribute reports on key metrics
Manage local databases and assist in management of data infrastructure
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited college or university (OR Associate's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis and reporting OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis and reporting)

Must be willing to work out of an office located in Schenectady, NY
Familiarity with SQL, Java, Matlab, R, Python, or other comparable tools
Previous experience with wind turbine software and firmware packages including: WindSCADA, VisuPro, ControlST (ToolboxST, WorkstationST), Bachmann PLC software and tools, Mark VIecontrol system)
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to improve / automate existing processes
Familiarity with wind turbine performance metrics, including availability, fault rate, production ratio, etc.
Working knowledge of Java and ability to contribute to existing environment
Ability to scrutinize data for quality and consistency
Strong communication skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments, on time and with high quality
Ability to work independently and anticipate customer needs
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical role
