Role Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for software development and architecture of industrial applications to support the GE Brilliant Factory initiative. These applications are part of a highly available and highly scalable system to host GE’s critical production applications and data.
Be a visionary and hands-on influencer/developer of software solutions architecture including prototyping to production development, conformance to industry standards andleveraging appropriate industry-relevant third-party standards/components. Define software requirements and specifications ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing equipment. You will leverage your expertise in software engineering to provide technical leadership to architect and review designs for the GE Brilliant Factory initiative, as well as provide review of model based analytics. The GE Brilliant Factory initiative will increase speed and re-imagine the way products are designed, manufactured, and serviced by the intersection of technology and manufacturing, marrying software, hardware and analytics to drive operational excellence in our manufacturing facilities.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics or relevant field from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years experience in developing and architecting software products
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Jacksonville, Florida
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or relevant field from an accredited university or college
Excellent knowledge of UML and other modeling methods
Capable and interested in working with a diverse software development team in a hands-on electronic laboratory type environment
Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns
Experience with C, LabView, R, Matlab and SQL
Demonstrated experience in developing full-stack software and analytics applications
Experience using tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired test systems
Understanding of software quality assurance principles
Secure application deployment
Container technology rollout and scaling
Strong knowledge of CI / CD best practices
Familiarity with XP techniques
Experience interfacing with electronic instrumentation or embedded programming would be a plus
Strong oral and written communication skills including executive level presentation
