Role Summary: The Quality Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes. In this role, you will utilize your experience & expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for yourself and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for :
Prioritizing and implementing multiple concurrent process improvement projects, alone or as part of a multi-functional team, to drive customer satisfaction and business productivity
Providing technical analysis & evaluation both manually & automatically to assigned inspection processes
Reduce manufacturing cost; improve quality controls; & increase yields and / or capacity
Initiate action as necessary to effect improvements and correct problem areas
Analyzing production and service limitations, then develop, implement, and evaluate quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques to track the progress of improvement efforts
Overseeing evaluation of test equipment, precision measurements, accuracy measurements, and performance testing
Working with Material Review Board to disposition nonconforming material and devise remediation actions
Working with quality engineering & other support personnel and / or functions in furnishing technical guidance to shop metrology and GD&T components & in trouble shooting technical problems
Providing training & documentation, support & consultation to shop operations, design & quality control to assure effective integration of assigned programs into routine operations
Collecting, organizing, monitoring and distributing information for the Company and to customers / suppliers related to product quality and process improvement
Specifying, developing and accepting advanced technology, quality information and test equipment
Providing advanced quality engineering of new product introduction involving new processes or advanced automated equipment
Acting as a consultant (as a recognized authority) to the quality, manufacturing and engineering organizations to improve Quality and Manufacturing processes, introduce new products and improve product design
Selecting, hiring, training and providing ongoing leadership of assigned personnel to meet schedules, quality and measurements, and organizational goals
Managing organization's cost superiority and investment program and compile and report all organization measurements on quality and cost
Maintaining awareness of the latest inspection techniques & processes & their beneficial & limiting aspects for optimum application to department needs
Providing improvements in inspection equipment, probes / supplies, machine calibrations, fixturing, mechanical inspection & analysis within assigned process area
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of professional work experience)
Minimum of 3 full-time years of experience in a professional quality role
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Prior experience in areas of quality assurance such as :
Incoming material control
Statistical process control
Previous experience working in a machine shop environment
Ability to conduct internal and external quality audits to recognize improvement opportunities and work with stakeholders to identify and implement effective CA / PA plans
Six Sigma training
Knowledge of regulatory requirements (CE / UL / CSA)
Ability to apply statistical methods to analysis of engineering problems
Ability to comprehend technical documentation
Strong oral and written communication skills
Possess the ability to act as a liason between multiple functions (i.e. - Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Inspection, etc.)
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
