Role Summary: As a Lead Research Engineer – Power Systems in the OGTC, you will design, develop, and evaluate distribution power systems for electrification of upstream Oil and Gas fields.
Essential Responsibilities: You will lead the research, evaluation, development and deployment of effective power system planning and design solutions to make systems more efficient, more reliable, cleaner, safer, better, cheaper, faster and smarter. You will be part of a multidisciplinary and diverse team of experts working on state-of-the-art technologies focused on upstream production operations.
In the role of Lead Research Engineer – Power Systems you will:
Work within an extended multi-functional project team
Design optimized power systems for O&G production operations
Design data analytics and machine learning solutions for improved power system planning
Provide scientific support and analysis for conclusions and outcomes
Work closely with businesses, engineering and research groups to research, develop, manage and execute technology road maps for oil and gas industry.
Interact with customers as an OGTC representative for research projects both as a researcher and subject matter expert
Provide technical expertise & thought leadership, identify and investigate new concepts and technologies
Participate in ongoing assessments of future oil & gas industry activities and technological needs
Ensure the research and technology development and testing plans are well prepared and communicated
Deliver effective presentations, reports and publications to Global Research leadership and GE businesses,
Provide mentorship and training when required
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of Oil and Gas experience (Upstream, Midstream, or Downstream)
Minimum 5 years of experience with data analytics
Hands-on experience in distribution power system design and SCADA systems.
Knowledge of Cybersecurity
Proven track record of effective teamwork skills
Project management experience required
Professional Engineer Certification
Strong familiarity with the OGTC's core program: Production Systems, Well Construction, Water, CO2, and Energy Systems
Demonstrated analytical skills
Self-starter and highly motivated
Excellent cross-functional interpersonal skills
Decisiveness to drive outcomes at market speed with market intensity
Demonstrated ability to interact at all levels of the organization
Self-confidence for a fast paced, multi-tasking, growth environment
