Role Summary:
The EHS & Procurement Specialist will implement and maintain the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) compliance programs.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the EHS & Procurement Specialist, you will:
  • Implement and maintain Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program
  • Implement and maintain chemistry and environs monitoring programs
  • Implement and maintain hazardous material management program including Right-to-Know law, chemical receipt, hazard labeling, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) verification, and chemical spill response
  • Perform / Oversee EHS audits and surveillances and maintain audit / surveillance records
  • Implement and maintain Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) compliance programs
  • Prepare reports of site safety and environs monitoring activities and OSHA compliance records including interface with other GE locations for EHS reporting
  • Coordinate employee health and safety training programs including annual training program for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), industrial safety, first aid and fire-fighting
  • Administer and/or coordinate MO (Metric Owner) training programs outside EHS
  • Assist with evaluation, selection, maintenance and effective use of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Evaluate new processes, chemicals and equipment prior to purchase / use at MO
  • Manage evaluation of Health and Safety Frameworks
  • Review accident reports and follow-up action plans
  • Participate in accident investigations, as appropriate
  • Assist management and operating teams to ensure work is performed and work environment and equipment are maintained in accordance with GE, MO and OSHA safety rules and regulations and that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained
  • Provide leadership in emergency situations with respect to injury or industrial safety
  • Provide safety orientation for construction, contractor and other temporary visitors
  • Monitor contractors and visitors to assure their compliance to OSHA / Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements
  • Administration of GE purchasing system at MO
  • Initiating purchase orders
  • Prepare and implement program for contracts, purchases, and surplus material disposal
  • Initiate receiving activities at MO for all items, materials, and chemicals delivered to MO for use by MO, contractors, or customers
  • Maintaining purchasing and shipping records



Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree ( OR a High School Diploma with a Certification in Environmental Health & Safety OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience)

Desired Characteristics:
  • Must complete site training consisting of: Class A Safety, Emergency Coordinator Certification, and First Aid / CPR training
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • RCRA (Resource Conservation & Recovery Act) Hazardous Waste training
  • 10CFR40 / 49 Hazardous Waste Shipping training
  • 40-hr Hazwoper training
  • Proficiency in OSHA regulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
