Role Summary: The Factory Operator will perform assignments based on direction given by the MSO.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Factory Operator, you will:
Cut, form, fabricate, machine, assemble, and/or crate a variety of Busway components in various areas of the plant
Operate forming, press brake, drilling, shearing, and tapping equipment as well as hand tools in accomplishment of tasks
Work from simple prints, drawings, and written/verbal instructions
Inspect work per Process Control Plan
Use basic computer skills to input necessary data
Cross train and act as backup for other factory operators
Work to takt time
Use general verbal communication to discuss and resolve issues
Indicate any down time during the work day
Report output to effectively measure current work against required standards
Be responsible for reporting manufacturing/assembly defects through appropriate channels (Area Coordinator, Working Leader, MSO)
Demonstrate EHS awareness and comply with all corresponding safety guidelines
Train new operators as required
Demonstrate a commitment to safety and process improvement through D.U.C.K. card submissions
Comply with JSA protocol associated with various stations and equipment within the plant
Be responsible for proactively engaging in housekeeping activities to ensure a safe and clean work area; must perform housekeeping duties during designated times
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a factory with a specific job scope related to manufacturing and assembly
Ability and willingness to lift up to 50lbs and occasionally lift above 50lbs
Ability and willingness to stand 90-100% of the time with most jobs; some jobs require as little as 10-15% standing
Ability and willingness to bend at the waist and knees
Ability and willingness to use eye/hand coordination to fabricate and assemble products and parts utilizing punch press, shears, air powered drivers, automated equipment, saws, fixtures, and lift devices
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the GE Selmer Busway factory with a demonstrated knowledge of safety programs, material flow, and manufacturing processes
Dexterity of both hands is required to load, unload, move, assemble, and feed material on all jobs
Safety responsibility to comply with site policies/procedures and report safety inefficiencies
Good work habits (well organized, sense of urgency, high capacity for work, and safety driven)
Intermediate computer skills with demonstrated working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook and Excel
