Role Summary: This role serves as the leader of the Materials Logistics Center (or “Storefront”) to be located at a customer engine overhaul facility in Atlanta, GA. The Leader will be instrumental in establishing this new storefront capability from the ground-up to become an integral part of the customer’s overhaul process. The Leader will also manage customer and supplier relationships, report status to customer and GE leadership, direct a team of resources, and drive process improvements.
The Logistics and Planning Leader demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.
In addition you will :
Establish and lead the operations of a Materials Logistics Center (“Storefront”) within the customer’s overhaul shop to manage part repair logistics in support of overhaul Gate 2
Serve as the GE focal to and develop strong relationships with the customer and multiple suppliers for status reporting, issue resolution, process improvement
Direct the team’s daily activities and serve as a point of escalation to customer, suppliers, and GE leadership
Manage and coordinate communication between the PPS functions (principally the project manager), global supply chain and the logistics COE
Responsible for all logistics and procurement processes
Responsible for the strategic planning of the logistics for each project to ensure successful delivery
Responsible for logistical activities, including purchasing, receiving, warehousing, and shipping
Drive cost reduction wherever applicable while meeting customer and safety requirements
Conduct formal project analysis at completion with a final project summary report
Provide project updates on all projects and present to the manager, logistics, and planning for review
Support the development and execution of long-term strategies, which support COE objectives
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a logistics or planning role)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a logistics or planning position (Including managing customer relationships)
Knowledge of GE products and services is preferred
Six Sigma training is preferred
Strong oral and written communications skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to self-direct and utilize internal network effectively
Proven facilitation skills
Keen analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to work in a cross-functional environment
Familiarity with Oracle is preferred
Ability to work with advanced information systems
