Role Summary: GE Oil & Gas Digital Solutions is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and technically talented Lead Systems Engineer to help define cutting edge, high performance machinery diagnostic and asset management products in the Oil & Gas and Power Generation Industries. In this role, you will rely on your strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Lead Systems Engineer, you will:
Drive project definition and execution utilizing a systems engineering approach through all phases of product development
Lead multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, integrate, and deploy a combination of software, firmware, and hardware solutions
Ensure thorough understanding of the customers’ needs through gathering customer input via interviewing and field observation
Identify, document, and track requirements utilizing a requirements management tool like DOORs or Jama
Have a thorough understanding of the technologies being utilized in our systems: sensors, controls, vibration analysis, databases, and display/software technologies
Resolve problems and issues using systems engineering tools: functional analysis and de-composition, Functional Flow Block Diagrams (FFBDs), Design Structure Matrix (DSM), Quality Functional Deployment (QFD), and trade studies
Be a clear and enthusiastic communicator to customers, users, and project teams to define, analyzes, and meets project goals
Coordinate across project leadership, program management, development, test and customer representatives, creating a collaborative environment that focuses on the big picture
Demonstrate genuine enthusiasm and passion for technology, its application to solve business problems and ensure requirements clarity is the best it can be
Participate in the definition of technological roadmaps for product solutions by analyzing evolving customer needs, technology trends, competitive market position, and various customer solution environments across market segments
Accomplish project objectives and goals despite obstacles, ambiguity, changing requirements, and a fast-paced environment
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in systems engineering methods and processes
Support and develop our technical culture by being engaged, intellectually curious, friendly, motivated to solve complex problems, and inspired to deliver superior products
Bachelors’ degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of experience designing new products as a systems engineer
Master’s Degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university
Knowledgeable on how to write use cases and use case scenarios for products
Knowledgeable in writing requirements on a system or sub-system using a formal tool like DOORs
Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills
Experience working on geographically and culturally diverse teams in a matrix environment
Experience designing products for an industrial environment
Passion for new and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities
Familiarity with modeling tools and simulation methods
INCOSE certification at the CSEP level
