Role Summary:
The Marine Digital Application Engineer is responsible for Portfolio ownership and ultimate responsibility across Engineering Prioritization, Build, Buy, and Partner decision points. In this role you will, ensure the solutions are developed in a products-centric manner – 80%+ leverageable and licensable components, Services aspects are limited to standardized connectors or watch-folder integration for common use across customers.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Marine Digital Applications Engineer, you will:

  • Handle full-breadth of SW application life cycle aspects such as deployment, operationalization and user training
  • Develop deployment plan based on In-depth understanding of GE software solutions and customer infrastructure (Cyber security, servers, network protocols etc.)
  • Develop operationalization method based on clear understanding of customer stakeholders, operational methods and systems-in-use to integrate with (single sign-on, BI, Enterprise Asset Management etc.)
  • Configure software using pre-defined user / system configuration facilities
  • Develop well-defined methodologies and practices to systemize deployment / support customer to customer (for efficient deployment)
  • Jump start customers on initial use of software with quick training and support
  • Develop good rapport with solution stakeholders at customer sites for constructive engagement
  • Contribute information to solutions enhancement based on customer experience with the solution and opportunities to simplify deployment / operationalization. Also monitor competitive products and reactions from customer use


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience deployment / operationalization of on-premise software solutions (familiarity of cloud solutions deployment is a plus)


Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering
  • Ability to work in new product deployments dealing with unknowns and uncertainties
  • Hands-on experience in deployment / operationalization and delivering customer training
  • Ability to configure HW servers, deploy software solution, connect with customer IT infrastructure
  • Knowledge of customer IT infrastructure, integration challenges is a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial / Marine equipment / operations is a big plus
  • Experience developing and delivering customer training
  • Have Marine certification or Open to get Marine certified for offshore vessels / facilities visits
  • Be a problem-solver first and then an applications engineer (don’t just deploy; ensure customer adoption)
  • Make progress despite any eclectic customer infrastructure and IT policies
  • Own the problem even if it belongs to a third-party or a foundational component of the solution
