Role Summary:
As a Senior Engineering Manager. you will apply your knowledge of management, software development methodologies, best practices, and proven processes to deliver a quality software product within schedule. This specific position will manage a set of software engineers to focus on medical device development.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Senior Engineering Manager – Software, demonstrates accountability for functional, business and broad company objectives. In the role, you will be responsible for leading the Software development team which designs Medical Devices in GE Healthcare. In this role, you will utilize your knowledge, experience and technical expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and help contribute and influence business strategy.

In this role, you will:
- Demonstrate very strong technical leadership and people management skills including solid communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of product development and successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation and resolution
- Responsible for building a world class software development team to develop high quality software designs and next generation software platforms for medical device product lines.
- Responsible to aligning with cross-functional service team owners to understand initiatives and implementations
- Influence decision making through active partnership with cross-functional teams
- Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software and user experience engineers
- Quickly define and deliver working software prototypes to prove designs that support product road map
- Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse. Drive process improvements and simplification.
- Deliver resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities
- Plan and manage budgets for the software function.
- Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with strong background in software development.
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in Software Development Application Development and Embedded Design. Need be strong in object oriented design and development
- At least 5 years of experience in a formal people management role. Proven ability to attract, retain & develop key and diverse talent
- Experience in complete Product Development life cycle, from requirement generation to product release.
- Experience in leading Software Teams in a product development setting. Demonstrated ability in mentoring and guiding the teams.
- Strong experience in Scaled Agile framework, Software Development Lifecycle processes and software quality management, effort estimation, planning and delivery of Software.
- Experience in partnering with external software design services vendors to accelerate / scale up.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to independently work with multiple global stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Desired Characteristics:
Qualification or Familiarity with one or more of the following will be a plus:
- Proven expertise in C++, Linux
- Experience in Android development will be an added advantage
- Experience in Medical Device development
- Substantial knowledge of current business function and information technologies
- Certified Scrum Master.
