Role Summary: The Power Systems Engineer will develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role you are responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your understanding and experience to execute business objectives, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Power Systems Engineer, you will:
Perform Power System and Arc Flash Studies
Provide technical leadership for the power delivery business of the GE Company within the district that you reside
Assist with selling GE's technical depth and capabilities in power systems engineering to customers
Be responsible for making sure that all GE power system and delivery projects meet the requirements of the applicable standards and codes that the associated designs are well engineered and cost effective
Be self-directed and a good communicator
Be able to balance the demands of customers, field service engineers, salesmen, and management
Provide technical support to customers, Field Engineers, Sales Engineers and Engineering Managers
Maintain professional registration by attending an IEEE conference or equivalent each year
Be knowledgeable of, and conduct work activities in compliance with, the ES Safety Manual and Safety policy
Exercise good judgment in controlling costs and expenditures of Company funds
Protect the Company's capital investments by properly safeguarding and maintaining that equipment for which responsible
Make contributions to the continued development and refinement of IS-ES Engineering Standards and Procedures as they apply to designated specialty and to conduct work efforts in accordance thereof
Develop knowledge of ES Terms and Conditions and those of customers and subcontractors, and perform activities so as to minimize risk and assure compliance
Strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction in all transactions and relationships
Perform collateral duties as assigned to meet business needs as they relate to EHS, Quality, Integrity, etc.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of experience performing power systems analysis
Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
Registered Professional Engineer
Be able to perform protective relay application, protective device coordination, short circuit duty analysis, harmonic analysis, power system design, harmonic filter design, transient waveform analysis, and measurements of transient waveforms, harmonics and demand
Know the limitations of measurement instruments with respect to probes, sample rates, output data formats, FFT's, etc.
Have a working knowledge of one or more of the following vendors' software: ESA, SKM, ETAP or equivalents
Have a familiarity with the applicable standards and codes for power system analysis and design; applicable standards and codes include but are not limited to NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE 141, IEEE 242, IEEE 1100, ANSI C37.13, ANSI C37.010, ANSI C37.06, IEEE 519, ANSI C84.1, ANSI C62.1
Solid business acumen and ability to sell GE to the customer
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
Strong interpersonal skills
Customer service oriented
Project Management and/or Field Service experience
Strong PC & MS Office Skills
