Role Summary: Has oversight and management of global tax compliance for Digital Solutions (DS) businesses and responsibility for specific tax compliance programs and initiatives. Supports development and recommendation of tax policy and provides technical advice with respect to areas of assigned responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Senior Tax Manager, you will:
Lead cash tax and ETR forecasting for the global DS business
Close DS’s quarterly tax books, including required reporting to O&G HQ and KPMG - Items include managing the TPC provision process, completing ETR, FIN48, balance sheet flux DRs, etc.
Oversee the accounting and reconciliation of all income tax accounts on DS ledgers worldwide
Complete the US return-to-provision process including tax basis balance sheet analysis for DS LEs/Company Codes
Manage world-wide DS return to provision deferred tax true ups
Lead identification, tracking and accruals of qualified amended return adjustments for US tax filings of DS LEs/Company Codes
Support financial reporting for taxes for the planned joint venture with Baker Hughes as well as the minority joint venture partner
Support O&G tax, finance and GOF teams to drive the efficient utilization of tax provision software tools, processes and procedures for calculating the tax provision and related FIN 48 documentation
Manage relevant DS global compliance processes, including US Income Tax Compliance and SOX 404 documentation
Assist with responses to external and internal audit teams to support financial statement compliance, tax settlement and tax audit
Business maintenance owner for GOLDNet (GE’s legal entity database)
Provide support on ad hoc business and tax planning initiatives including recommending and implementing process changes to improve operations or reduce tax risks
Provide tax accounting support and journal entries for business restructuring including cross business schedules
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field from an accredited college or university
Minimum 7 years of public accounting experience or in law firm, multinational business or Oil & Gas industry
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in US GAAP accounting for income taxes and tax compliance processes knowledge and experience in accounting for federal Income taxes and analysis for federal income taxes
Demonstrated ability to manage and influence others, both directly and indirectly as well as operate effectively in a matrixed environment
Excellent research, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Comprehensive understanding of FAS 109 and FIN 48
Advanced degree such as Masters in Tax (MST), JD or LLM
Minimum 10 years of experience in Public Accounting or other tax related roles, with focus on tax controllership, preferably within GE or Oil & Gas industry
Understanding of GE operating mechanisms & financial management practices
Adaptable/flexible to be open to change (positive or negative) in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations
Integrity to accept and adhere to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence others across business functions and within the matrix organization
Expert with data analytics and PC skills with proficient experience using financial systems/applications (i.e.: ERP, Oracle, HFM, Business Objects, etc.), strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation such as pivot tables, V-lookup and Macros
Lead largely through strong influencing and change management skills. Look for the best solutions by seeking, sharing, and partnering with others to identify best practices globally for simplification and adopting them to applicable DS tax processes
