Role Summary:
Responsible for testing a component, feature and or feature set. Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across business. S/he contributes to quality engineering discussions.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Own medium-sized quality engineering tasks; and delivers while mentoring and helping team members
  • Make technology choices at individual level and has ability to analyze impact
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
  • Integrate project testing with continuous-integration process
  • Work with fellow team members to diagnose bugs and formulate solutions
  • Provide expertise in the quality engineering, test planning and testing methodology for a software project
  • Develop and executes maintainable automation tests for acceptance, functional, and regression test cases

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Software Quality Testing OR Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in Software Quality testing with expertise in product validation and test automation
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
  • Must be willing to travel (~5% of the time)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Extensive experience in both front end and backend automated testing
  • Experience in Performance benchmarking techniques
  • Experience in validating Analytics.

    Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to write Java code and shell scripting for the purposes of testing solution code (e.g., white-box testing).
  • Experience testing micro services and web services (SOAP/REST; Throughput, Performance under Load, etc.)
  • Proficient in setting up software testing framework and developing automated test suites for web applications using tools such as Selenium.
  • Experience working with virtual machines (VMs) as part of a test/integration infrastructure
  • Experience in cloud computing, distributed systems, object oriented design, relational and NoSQL databases, REST APIs, asynchronous programming, and micro-services architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principle
  • Strong knowledge in core data structures and algorithms concepts and design patterns
  • Experience working with GIT, Maven, Cloud Foundry
  • Strong technical skills in front end as well as backend technologies
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
  • Experience working with virtual machines (VMs) as part of a test/performance infrastructure
  • Experience in load testing frameworks like LoadRunner/JMeter
  • Excellent RCA and debugging capabilities.
  • Strong understanding and experience in agile methodologies such as Extreme Programming, Scrum, Kanban, BDD/TDD, pair programing, continuous integration/delivery.
  • Experience with establishing Performance KPIs at both component and system level.
  • Exposure to cloud foundry infrastructure
  • Experience with issue-tracking and agile project management systems such as Jira, GreenHopper, Confluence, Rally, etc.

    Business Acumen:

  • Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application
  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
  • Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices

  • Ability to takes ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
