Role Summary:
GE Digital is seeking an experienced, driven Principal Technical Program Manager for its Applications Engineering team. You will work with software development managers, leads, architects, product owners and leadership to define, manage, and deliver complex enterprise Saas IoT products. S/he can range from highly complex feature area to a component that forms a small subsystem, to a simple product.

Essential Responsibilities:
Leads across the team to continuously integrate for predictable execution and teamwork ensuring key milestones are met on time and with high quality.

Lead the Program management of complex Predix-based product software development releases across all of the GE businesses. Coordinate and track execution of product extension, co-development and contribution work streams.

This includes:
  • Support Development Directors for all GE business unit (GEBU) engagements
  • Manage full life cycle process for work streams
  • Coordinate Engagement Agreements with each GEBU: common template, track prospective and completed deals
  • Manage the pipeline of prospective work; ensure that commitments match our capacity
  • Coordinate Co-Development Agreements and Contribution Agreements with GEBUs
  • Track active work and produce simple dashboard
  • Coordinate transition and interim support activities (e.g. line up catcher teams)
  • Ensure closure and assess success
  • Track financials for sponsored work. Work closely with GED Finance, PAE Ops and GEBU Ops.
  • Release Management alignment. Work closely with the core product release management team to ensure common approach and output
  • Establish strategic metrics (e.g. committers, net velocity, …)
  • Define, document and communicate process definition for Co-Development and Contribution. Identify and engage key stakeholders to ensure full buy-in
  • Create material to support communications & outreach across GE (confluence, powerpoint…)


Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in software development, with 5+ years of technical program/release management experience, managing complex Saas enterprise software products, and applying agile methodologies.
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Must be willing to travel to 5% of the time
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA


Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:
  • Ensure releases are well-planned, executed efficiently, and delivered with high quality.
    Perform hands-on agile release management
  • Manage and maintain release information, including feature definition and scope, schedule and overall release planning.
  • Facilitate regular scrum of scrum sessions and cross functional team reviews. Participate in individual scrum planning meetings as needed.
  • Identify significant risks and unknowns, and define and drive resolution plans.
  • Manage cross­ team dependencies, and coordinate cross-team initiatives and blocking issues.
  • Establish Track and ensure release criteria are met.
  • Ensure teams are following Definition of Done for Story, Sprint, Feature, Release
  • Perform higher-level release tracking, reporting and metrics across Engineering Releases
  • Perform release wide retrospectives and feedback action items into the release process
  • Drive information sharing, and capturing and disseminating of best practices across Engineering
  • Expertise on Rally, Confluence wiki a plus
  • Strong technical background, and ability to understand complex product functionality, design, and technical issues – in order to drive the right priorities, trade-offs, and resolutions. Experience as a software developer a plus.

  • Strong business analysis and problem solving skills
  • Evaluates products & processes to assure compliance. Measures the impact of trends (cyclical or a shift) and takes action relative to product value position and overall strategy
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with other GE businesses
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for Agile/Scrum, and applying it in a smart and practical way. Demonstrated ability to help teams define clear deliverables and meet them. Certified Scrum Master a plus.
  • Extremely well-organized with project information, attention to detail, and exacting quality standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in the areas of teamwork and influencing skills, and ability to facilitate dynamic meetings and discussions.
  • Ability to manage and multi-task across multiple releases and teams. Experience working with remote teams

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to help build effective processes
  • Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
  • Articulates the story, uses two way communication and influences outcomes and ongoing results
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
