Role Summary: The Paint Technician -2nd shift will perform routine and preventive maintenance painting duties, and a full range of specialized painting projects including, but not limited to, painting large structures in corrosive environments; perform inspections, cleaning, storage and disposal of paint products; and operate various tools and equipment.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Paint Technician, you will:
Properly apply paints
Mix paint to match colors
Follow compound specifications for mixing of paints and painting techniques, handle huge material movement, and maintain correct record and general record keeping
Use a computerized maintenance management system for work order processing
Use and operate tools and equipment according to established environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures
Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Store, handle, and dispose of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures
Correct any unsafe conditions in her / his work area and report any concerns to EHS and / or Supervisor
High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Minimum 2 years of industrial painting experience or experience in a manufacturing or services capacity with an emphasis on painting
Work 2nd shift
Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
Certification for driving and operating a fork truck
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices and tools used in painting
