Role Summary:
In this newly created role you will be responsible for defining and executing the roadmap for our integrated talent management (ITM) suite of services and solutions for GE Digital and across GE broadly. This exciting role will provide the opportunity to partner with a GE Venture start-up, based in San Francisco, to co-define the vision of ITM across GE.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Technical Product Manager (TPM) is responsible for product definition and program execution of the ITM platform, delivering high quality talent management technology solutions to GE. You will be the voice of the GE customer to the engineering team and will identify and prioritize the features needed.

Define & execute on strategic roadmap for our integrated talent management (ITM) service, a current GE Venture. By working closely with GE Employee Experience leader, HR & Digital Technology leaders across the company, this person will:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver features and major, complex products
  • Own the short-term roadmap for MVPs and quarterly releases
  • Prioritize continuously in accordance with the understanding and validation of customer problems and needs
  • Demonstrate expert level skill in problem decomposition and ability to navigate through ambiguity
  • Engage frequently (80%) with the development team; facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation; contributes to design activities and decisions
  • Own and manage the backlog; continuously order and prioritize to ensure that 1-2 sprints/iterations of backlog are always ready
  • Routinely collaborate with UX, Architecture and engineering teams on multiple issues and decisions
  • Conduct customer and stakeholder interviews and elaborate on personas
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver products and features for the ITM platform
  • Form partnerships with customers to understand their requirements. Understand the details and context behind customer requests
  • Translate the customer requirements into product behavior definitions.
  • Continuously prioritize deliverables using your deep understanding of customer requirements and your judgment
  • Drive execution of product development to ensure high quality, on-time product delivery. Monitor the progress of multiple engineering teams and report engineering velocity and other KPI’s to executive leadership
  • Demonstrate expertise in problem decomposition and ability to deal with ambiguous requirements
  • Engage frequently with the engineering teams; facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation; contributes to design activities and decisions
  • Collaborate with UX in design decisions, demonstrating deep understanding of technology stack and impact on final product
  • Conduct customer and stakeholder interviews and elaborate on personas
  • Translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work units through problem decomposition and planning
  • Coordinate and provide regular updates to stakeholders including Senior HR executives. Manage executive stakeholder communication and progress reporting
  • Develop a commercialization strategy as appropriate. Develop a proposal to business development leaders to scale/commercialize within GE and beyond


Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years’ experience coordinating complex product development cycles and software development schedules
  • 5+ years’ experience working cross functionally (design, engineering, usability, content development)

  • Skilled in negotiation to align stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective to the scrum team. Balances value propositions for competing stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the competitive environment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of technologies in the market to help make buy vs build recommendations, scope MVPs, and to drive market timing decisions
  • Able to verbalize what is behind decisions and downstream implications. Continuously reflecting on success and failures to improve performance and decision-making. Understands when change is needed. Participates in technical strategy planning.
