Role Summary: The Mechanical Engineer - Analytical Instruments will provide direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Mechanical Engineer - Analytical Instruments, you will:
Develop packaging and release new standards products for consumables business
Organize consumables product documentation from bills of material to specification sheets for purchasing
Coordinate implementation details across functions
Develop schedules with a track record of meeting long term commitments
Participate in technical design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA, FEA, CFD, Reliability testing etc.
Be responsible for managing vendor relationships through component testing to maximize cost vs. performance
Have the ability to fully document designs and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in an ISO 9000 environment
Have a positive can-do attitude in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 2 years of product design experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with SolidWorks CAD
Working knowledge of a variety of manufacturing methods and processes, including injection molding, extrusion, machining, and assembly processes
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as an engineer in product development or sustaining engineering, with experience designing and launching products
Ability to read, interpret and create mechanical drawings, especially sheet metal, plastic injection-molded and machined part drawings, utilizing GD&T per ASME / ANSI Y14.5M
Ability to use SolidWorks PDM (formerly Enterprise PDM)
Ability / experience with Adobe Illustrator
Skill with mechanical hand tools and machine shop experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter, creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks / issues
